I am not sure the Redlers really regard this behaviour as a bug. See Ori post re this issue: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1331#p7834.

I fully support this request.

Re: Chapter title in header?
Yes, that is possible. The feature is called "Mentions" in Mellel; it is part of the auto-title set-up. You will find more on it in the Guide at p. 227 et seq.

Re: Those darn diamonds
bluesdance,
You may want to have a look into the preferences' open-and-save-tab. There you will find an option that handles Mellel's behaviour when opening a file after modifying a style. Check "Update document styles". Hope this helps.

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
Reindexing did it for me. All Mellel files, including the old .mell format, can be searched again. Before I saw the same behaviour, i.e. only documents that I had open at least once could be searched. To reindex Spotlight, just add your Mac's HD to the list of items to be excluded form Spotlight sea...

Works as it should here on an iBook G4 with a Mac keyboard (the white one that was the current model until it was replaced by the new aluminium one recently) attached to it.

Re: Drag & Drop in Style Sets not working [Leopard issue?]
I am not yet on Leopard, but plan to buy a new Macbook next month, which is shipping with Leopard. However, I had to learn that Mellel is not yet fully Leopard ready: There is no Leopard Spotlight plugin, no QuickSearck plugin, and now Mellel seems to have lost its function to move styles by drag an...
Re: hyphens
I am not exactly sure what you wish to automise. But Mellel has no auto-correct function like Word does. For this you will have to use third party tools such as Typinator, Textexpander, TypIt4ME (all shareware at around 30$, Textexpander used to be freeware as Textpander and you might still find for...
Re: hyphens
grr,
You might want to check the typographical rules of your language, as the functions of the various dashes explained by shades might not apply there. In German for instance, you hardly use the em-dash. Instead an en-dash is used to break thoughts as well as between numbers.

Re: Is there a way to cycle through open document windows?
Bensch, I am on a German keyboard, too. And cmd-< works just fine here. Could it be that you have assigned cmd-< for something else in Mellel, or, more likely, that you have installed some obscure Service that uses cmd-< as a shortcut? The latter was the reason why I had the very same problem in Wor...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
I am planning to upgrade my hardware which implicitly means upgrading to Leopard. An indication as to when we can expect a Leopard compatible spotlight plug-in woud thus be good to have. I have hundreds of Mellel files which I need to search in my daily work.

Re: system requirements and licensing
Hi! Will Mellel run on an Ibook G3, 800mhz, 640mb? Also, does the license I own for Mellel (1 user) allow me install Mellel on both my Imac and the Ibook? Thanks, Rebecca It will run, but be aware that Mellel may slow down depending on length and complexity of your documents (i.e. many auto titles,...

Re: explain Mellel to me
Would it be possible to tell me how you go about assigning Greek character styles, then assigning the keyboard? I've tried it with the 'variations' list, bit it doesn't seem to type as Greek when I use it in a document, though it shows as "Character: Greek (D)" in the display in the middl...

Re: Wishlist 2008
There's some great ideas already, but what I would also like to see are... - improved management of styles for true facing page printing, e.g., a style (that maybe used for the beginning of a chapter) must start on an odd page. Other people elsewhere have expounded on what additional options might ...

Re: newbie question re: mellel and bookends
To start with, I recommend the tutorial that comes with Bookends. Look into the Bookends 10 folder, it should be in there. It focuses on Bookends but you will find instructions as to inserting references in Mellel as well as to formatting a Mellel document. As complementary reading I recommend the r...
