Re: How to forbid Hyphenation for proper noun ?
A nice feature of one of my old favorite word processors was to add what they called a soft-hyphen (it used the tilde character ~). Used in the middle of a word it overrode the hyphenation dictionary as to the right breakpoint. Used at the front of a word it suppressed hyphenation for that word. (It...

floating date/time in footer (or header)
I'd like what is essentially a timestamp in the header or footer. I.e., a variable that picks up the current date and one that picks up the time. So, when I print a draft, or PDF it for sending around, it is time stamped. In the antediluvian XyWrite days you could spec it like this: <<daMmdyy>> at <...

Re: Can't move the palette
See, I was right--it was something obvious I was missing.
Thanks, that did it.

Can't move the palette
I think I may be missing something obvious, but I can't grab the palette and drag it; the top has disappeared under the menu bar. I can work with it, adding and subtracting palettes but I can't move it. I thinking of diving into a plist somewhere, finding its saved coordinates and fiddling. But mayb...

Re: Mellel 2.9 is fantastic
I've been using the β. And now 2.9. I've only been doing a small project on it, but I have to say that it has been amazingly trouble-free (makes me feel like an inadequate beta-tester). All the changes to existing capabilities are improvements; and line-numbering is very nicely implemented. (And mar...

Re: End of Chapter notes and bibliography
Yes. The "dump it here" command was how the best ever word processor used to do it. (that would be XyWrite).

Re: Mark words as nonhyphenable?
The magnificent XyWrite of DOS days had a simple device for this: precede the word with a soft hyphen. (A soft hyphen being a character (defaulted to ~) that you inserted into a word that marked an optional hyphenation point). Soft hyphens overrode auto-hyphenation.

update bug?
The update check offers to update me from 2.8.0 build 22 to build 23. It downloads, unpacks and tells me to wait and finishes. But then, there I am at build 22 and Mellel offers to update, etc.

Re: Track Changes, what would you like to have?
This is just *my* need: I don't need the elaborate collaborative features. Basically, I need: get a student paper, write comments/markups, return. If the student uses Mellel, good. If the student can tolerate a pdf with the markups/comments clearly indicated, fine. If the student needs a word/rtf ve...

Feature request: File compare
My old greatly beloved XyWrite had a nifty file compare feature. Open two documents, hit ctrl-minus and it takes you to the first point of difference. Hit ctrl-+ and it takes you to where matching up starts again (yes, you could set a threshold for that). This would be incredibly useful and, I belie...

Have Redlers ever answered about a Quicklook plug-in for Leopard?
