Re: Will someone tell me it's going to be OK?
Mellel has a lot of promise. I bought a license sometime in late 2006, because Mellel is a stable word processor and because it was promising a new version that would arrive by end of 2006 that would include x-refs and the like. I guess you could say that I bought a product based on what it was goin...

Re: Where are cross references / text flow around images?
But at the same time I can't say how glad I am about Mellel in its actual state already. (The imagination of having to use Word instead of Mellel is really cruel.) I think excluding either-or- or even pass-fail-positions don't have the ability to reflect reality. It's mostly both-and. But that's ju...

Re: Where are cross references / text flow around images?
Unlike operating systems (!). I find your ignorance of the history of software development… disturbing. If you've read that book, you'll realize that there is a lot to learn from the mistakes that were made previously. What's the point of reading a book on historic software failures if the only des...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
Why would they?It would be cool to have Quicklook functionality. Tell me Apple's not being dicks about this, shutting developers out or charging them a fee to get in.

Re: Goodbye Microsoft 2008; bring it on Mellel!
I'm afraid I've heard it all before... And from what I gather is the general attitude of people visiting these boards, I'd be a fool to invest money in what a software "promises" to do in the future . Instead, I should buy software for what it does right now . I've been waiting for cross ...

Re: Where are cross references / text flow around images?
There are many software packages available that specialize in layout when our requirements are more complex than Mellel can handle. That is hardly an adequate answer, especially given that certain features are 4 years late. Unlike operating systems, people do need word processors to arrive in a tim...

Re: And Now A Word From Our Sponsors......(please!)
I know I'm not the only one to think this, but we don't need to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes. However, it might be very handy if the Redlers gave it's users even a condensed post at frequent intervals, like what Ori just gave. This greatly reassures users that work is being done in...

I think you need to remember that Mellel is first and foremost a word processor. What you are describing sounds like a poster, something better done in a page layout application. I know, Word does it. But then again Word is a pretty horrible word processor and a pretty horrible page layout app as we...

Do you need cross references? That is what stops me from using Mellel in my thesis, and no I won't whine again about how long I've been waiting for this feature :P. In its current form, Mellel works really well for short academic papers where you can reference everything manually. For long thesis le...

ptram, could you kindly elaborate on your statement? Why is this Warnock Pro worth so much money? The academic papers I've published thus far have all be very happy with Times New Roman. I fail to see why this font could justify a price tag, let alone $199. Between Times New Roman and Georgia ... $1...

The original reason software started coming with a splash screen was to give the user some visual feedback when an application took ages to load. The splash screen alerted the user to the fact that something was happening and the application is launching. Imagine how frustrating it would be if you l...
