Re: Mellel 4.1 is ready for beta testing...

I would love there to be a vertical ruler. Is that so very much to ask? Please, thank you. Here’s a freeware app you may find helpful until Mellel incorporates a ruler. This app is free and includes vertical and horizontal rulers. It seems to provide an accurate measurement if Mellel is set to ‘Mel...

Re: Thoughts about the forum’s new look

I feel you (as someone who would also rather have things a bit darder). Would darker as with the Download button above do? I'm all for contrast! Ori No, not as dark as the download button. A background that dark would produce a gloomy appearance. In my opinion, the background just has to be a littl...

Thoughts about the forum’s new look

1) Is there any way to make the background darker. Are there any 'skins' we can apply? When I first opened the page, the background was blindingly white. Painful. 2) The text would be much easier to read if the font were a bit heavier, or, if the font was simply black (this would be my preference). ...

Re: Vertical ruler

You might want to have a look at this. I've found it pretty useful over time.

Re: Thank you for "Background (on screen)"

I set up my Default document in Preferences>General tab. There I set the following for my default document background. It’s kind of a light blue-green: R - 163 G - 231 B - 235 ---- My fullscreen background settings are: R - 31 G - 115 B - 130 ---- My choice for Hyperling Colour is a dark red: R - 15...

Re: Thank you for "Background (on screen)"

I've also set up a document that I consider beautiful, and easy on the eyes.

I have a large monitor and work well into the night, so the cool blue background really helps minimize eye strain.

Wish we could post images of our favorite documents.

Re: We’ve Expanded!

I have also got serious doubts about the (present) usefulness of the forum, beyond a place for sole Mellel related announcements and news. Many questions are never answered, including my own, although, based on the nature of the questions, there got to be a large number of people who already know t...

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

That's fair: you want Mellel to do somethingexceptioknal that other apps don't do. I just think you should make that clear, that's all. Janet What I am asking for is nothing exceptional, at all. Scrivener has Preference settings that allow the program to open without also opening the Template Choos...

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

OK I get where you guys are coming from and I agree that applications should offer users the maximum options possible to support their specific needs. The option to do nothing is certainly a valid option. My question is: do you know a single application that works this way? I can't think of one. Ja...

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

...For all things you name are alternative ways, which for me work much better. Therefore I don't want Mellel to force me to do other things (= closing a document or a template browser I don't need). - I make new documents from the default template with Command-N. - To make a new document from anot...

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

If you set preference to "Open template browser," it has a folder for "recent documents" in LH column... And if you "command-O" from template browser, then template browser disappears, and "open" dialogue is there in its place. ...so doesn't this achieve what...

Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

Okay, I’ve used Mellel since 2004 and can’t tell you how much I enjoy using it. But there’s one behavior that’s driving me nuts. Every time I open the program, or click on the Dock to make Mellel the active program, it opens a brand new document. The document opens and spreads across the screen hidi...

Re: how to find bold text

miles11, Is there any way to assign keyboard shortcuts to Find Actions? The only shortcut I could find is located in the Edit>Find submenu. At the bottom there’s a shortcut to bring up the Find Set dialogue, from which you can choose the Find Set you want to use. That shortcut is Shift-Command-F ==...
