Another simple (and free) solution is Language Switcher: http://www.tj-hd.co.uk/en-gb/languageswitcher/.

Re: Find nitpick in 2.9 with Lion
That's strange. Does it work in other programs, e.g. Pages or Neo Office? It's hard to imagine that this is not a system issue. I can't find any Mellel preferences regarding sound alerts.
I don't have Lion yet so I'm afraid I can't try it myself.

Re: Find nitpick in 2.9 with Lion
I still hear the sound in 2.9 (albeit under 10.6.. It's called Funk.aiff and can be found in the System/Library/Sounds directory. Maybe you can look under System Preferences and manually instruct Lion to use this (or any other) sound.
Re: Toolbar
Take a look at this thread for the show/hide palettes button:

Re: Registration to the forum
As far as suggestions are concerned, could the increase in spam have anything to do with the recent change of the captcha?

Hi, My default application for opening "Word" docs is "Pages", probably was automatically set on installing "Pages". I would now like to make "Mellel" the default. Unfortunately apart from prior to open, right click /other/always open with, I cant find the co...

Re: Compatibility with Modern Versions of WOrd?
NEVER do that, you will loose all footnotes, among others. It depends very much on the sort of text you're dealing with. As an editor I receive dozens of texts a week, many of them in the docx format. None of them contains footnotes or page numbers. TextEdit is then to me a very fast and easy way t...

Re: Compatibility with Modern Versions of WOrd?
the question is whether TE can preserve all of the data from .docx or not. TextEdit doesn't do footnotes, page numbers or track changes, although there is a workaround to insert page numbers. TE is more an editor than a word processor but still very useful when converting fairly simple docx files. ...

Re: Compatibility with Modern Versions of WOrd?
An even easier way of working with docx files is opening them in TextEdit and then saving them as doc or rtf files.
