Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...
I want a third choice: When opening Mellel (or making the program active): DO NOTHING. Then, once it’s active I can have choices. I can use the Recent Items menu to quickly choose, and bring up, a document I’ve worked on recently. Or, I can hit Command-N for a new document. Or I can hit Command-O t...

Re: On 10.9 Mellel crashes on start
It looks like you are right. This might have something to do with kernel extensions. I just updated to the latest version of KeyRemap4MacBook, and all of the sudden Mellel is working again.

Re: Mellel 3.0, ML, and a Retina Macbook - Crash on Save
As additional info: Crashing does not effect the saving of the file. The file is still saved. The crash appears to happen after the save completes. Also, Lion save integration is working fine. I can simply quit Mellel, and everything is intact when I start it again. The crash can easily be replicate...

Mellel 3.0, ML, and a Retina Macbook - Crash on Save
I am having a consistent issue with Mellel 3.0, on Mountain Lion, on a Macbook Pro Retina. I have a developer account, so I'm running Mountain Lion GM at present. Mellel regularly crashes on save. Here is the crash log: http://pastebin.com/z6t25D4P I can give you a sample document if that's helpful.

Changes to Keyboard layout in Preferences will not persist
I love the idea of the automatic layout switching. However, I am a Dvorak user, and so naturally, I need to assign the Dvorak layout to the U.S. English language. I have discovered a bug that prevents me from making the change and having it persist without a lot of dinking around. Steps to reproduce...

Converting .mell on open in 2.8: package format is ignored
When opening old .mell files for the first time in 2.8, as usual you are asked if you wish to replace the existing file with the updated format.
However, the resulting .mellel file is always saved as a package, regardless of what is checked in Preferences.

Tabs and Hanging Indents
I just discovered, to my dismay, that it is not possible to place a tab in the "hanging" portion of a hanging intent. Use case: I have a reference number that I would like to hang off the first line of an indented paragraph, but I would like the reference numbers to be right-justified. In ...

Re: What are your favorite Hebrew unicode+opentype fonts?
i found a cheaper solution: I installed X11, downloaded FontForge, and figured out how to copy Ezra's Kamatz Katan glyph into SBL Hebrew. It doesn't line up 100% perfectly but it's pretty darn close. In Fontforge, you can correct alignment problems with anchors. Look at Ezra SIL to see what I mean....

Re: Bug: Page margins and tabs in Header and Footer
This has nothing to do with precision. I can type in a tab measurement precisely at the right margin in inches, points, picas (my preference) or centimeters, and that works just fine.
The bug is with page styles, which impose an artificial limit on the addressable width in the GUI.

Bug: Page margins and tabs in Header and Footer
I already submitted this to support@redlers.com. I posted here so that the workaround is in the forums. I have discovered a bug in Mellel's handling of the page margins and tabs in headers and footers. I have a Letter page, with 0.5 inch page margins all around. This gives me a usable width of 7.5 i...

I realize that this is a hack, and hacks are to be avoided. However, in reality, the current fake small caps code is a hack, so why not make it a better hack? Why can't Mellel's small caps case feature use OpenType small caps characters if they are available, but if not , then fake it? I mean, isn't...

Actually, this answers one concern which I have had in the past with Mellel: namely, that without access to Mellel, I cannot read my documents. If such a hybrid format were easily possible, this concern would be eliminated in such a manner that not only will the text of the document be available, bu...
