Import word into Mellel 6
Hi I recently upgraded to Mellel 6 but I cannot import word (doc, docx or rtf) content other than text. None of the image content is visible - just a rectangle with a question mark. I have even changed all the images into standard image pastes in word. The file opens with Pages as expected but not i...

Re: How do Mellel users take notes?
For complex papers I tend to use Scrivener for notes and original drafting and then export to Mellel for finishing. I used to use Circus Ponies Notebook but that is no longer supported.

Re: A call for tables
Call me a heretic but tables is about the only feature that other wordprocessor from MACROHARD does right. Pilage and plunder what they do and I will be happy. I actually used Indesign tables in my PhD thesis that I copied as images into mellel.

Re: track changes
Hi Eyal thanks for the reply. As an individual user it is not a problem but when trying to collaborate with others who refuse to move from word it irks me that word gets this feature right. Common practice in editing is that deleted text is red and inserted text is blue. I am sure this is possible i...

track changes
I would like to know if it is possible to have two colors in track changes as it is hard to differentiate between strikethough and added text when the changes are complex and meant for another reader. I am doing changes to my PhD as per examiner comments and I would like deletions in red and inserti...

Re: Can Mellel "tell" Bookends to do a citation restart
I suggest you ask this question on the bookends forum or send Jon a support request. I suspect you may have to create an alternate citation format.

feature list and comparison needs updating
Hi while I love the fact that Mellel is honest enough to compare Mellels features with other word processors there are a few areas that are not included that are important for academic writing. Equations, indexing, templates, image manipulation, split screen, and version control should all be consid...

Re: Dealing with a large doc
Hi Farcas my PhD is currently at 67mb. 500 pages, 300 graphics (tables imported from indesign and illustrator figures). I do have a retina mac with fusion drive and 8mb of ram but I run parallels vm with windows 10 as I cut and paste Statistica outputs into the thesis. Only slow area is live bibliog...

Re: Feature request: table styles
I agree. I have 203 tables in my thesis but they are all done in Adobe Indesign and imported as 300dpi png images. While I have no specific style requirements for my tables I know some disciplines are very strict on how tables should look and this needs to be fixed soon as not everybody can afford a...

As an alternative have you considered a 3 colum table and then just insert what is required in each cell.

Re: What's next for Mellel 3.4?
For me better integration with mathtype for equations especially inline. The current implementation forces too much white space in line spacing. MS Word doesn't do much well but on this feature it is much better implemented.

Re: Writing a PhD in Mellel
I would like simpler cross referencing - either the dialog box could be redesigned so that auto titles are sub-grouped as figures, tables etc or a search function in the dialog box - I have 570 autotitles in my PhD and getting the right one to cross reference is really frustrating. Being able to sor...

Re: Mellel 3.3.3 is Here
Not sure why but the app store version is 3.3.4 and the KAGI version which I have is 3.3.3 - says I am up to date and no new version is available. I did contact Support and was told there was a bug in 3.3.3. What happens is the RTF fails to finish writing and freezes at about 15 % I am sure it...
