Re: Problem with footnotes when exporting into docx

OK, I think I’ve nailed it. It had to do with the character style I used specifically for the reference symbol. For some reason the export tag wouldn’t transfer as superscript because of the OpenType features used in the Mellel character style setting. These OT features, though typographically beaut...

Re: Problem with footnotes when exporting into docx

Something definitely must be off with my character styles, but I can’t pinpoint this. I tried using Mellel’s default modern style set and the export was unproblematic. I tried changing various settings but was unable to achieve any desired results.

Problem with footnotes when exporting into docx

Greetings y’all, For some reason I can never export my Mellel files to docx right. In particular, my problem is that the superscript of my footnote reference symbols is lost and becomes normal size in Word. This has been a lingering issue for a longest time now but I've always let the editors take c...

Re: Export to .rtf and .docx

What fonts are you talking about? Let us know so we can make a test.
Brill Typeface, Antinoou for Coptic and SBL BibLit for Greek. I set up Greek as secondary language, using the SBL font for it.

Re: Export to .rtf and .docx

Unfortunately, just about every publisher requires a docx file, hence every beautifully formatted file replete with OpenType features and such like must be exported into a doc file, which loses a lot (if not most) of its original charm Nope, what I meant was a MS Word file (doc was a typo for docx)...

Re: Export to .rtf and .docx

Are the styles making it to Word intact? Maybe the wrong styles are being applied. Not sure I understand your question. What do you mean by ‘wrong styles’? I’ve got a tightly developed set of styles that I’ve been using for years. The export has never been perfect, but it seems to be getting even w...

Export to .rtf and .docx

Is it just me, or the export from Mellel to MS Word and RTF formats presents difficulties? I’m an academic and do all of my writing in Mellel. Unfortunately, just about every publisher requires a docx file, hence every beautifully formatted file replete with OpenType features and such like must be e...

Re: A call for tables

You can def. use footnotes within the tables. That was a game-changer for my doctoral thesis. And my copy-editor, being used to MS Word but graciously willing to install and work with Mellel on my manuscript, was jolly well astonished when I told her I didn't need to use table-notes made manually!

Re: A call for tables

As for your question regarding the diagrams, both a) and b) would be useful, but I had specifically the option b) in mind when making this proposal.

Re: A call for tables

hey Eyal, thanks so much for keeping this discussion going. My (literally) two (metaphorical) cents: Inserting the rows: I'd like to be able to say 'insert row above' or 'below' or 'column before' or 'after'. The difference is the following: I'm in row 1 and want to insert a row above. Excel gives y...

Re: A call for tables

1. Ability to work with something akin to 'table styles', whereby I could save the table designs I might need more often (which I often do). I'd love to have had this when working on my monograph which utilised lots of tables which required the same design and layout throughout. I resorted to resolv...

inserting images?

Hey folks, For some reason, I'm having a hard time inserting the images into my Mellel document. What I mean is that I need to insert an image and retain its size, as it's a manuscript image and hence it needs to appear in a real-life size. But Mellel always inserts it smaller. Any help will be grea...

Re: Selecting all footnotes

I second this request for select all footnotes/endnotes, but for a different reason: I'd like to copy all my footnotes/endnotes. Is this possible? Is there a work around? Thanks! As far as I know, there isn't at the moment (I've asked Eyal before) and I, too, second this request. This is most desir...

feature request: select all footnotes

Hey there,

Am I right in saying that Mellel has presently got no way of selecting all footnotes (something akin to Command-A type of thing)?

If so, it'd definitely be a welcome addition to the kit. Also, how far on the horizon are the table styles?
