Irritating paragraph style changes on page break
I have recognised this problem for a while now, but I keep repeating it, so hope that someone can let me know where I am going wrong, or take note of a bug. Note that this problem stems from an inability to anchor a caption to an image or table, an issue that has been raised elsewhere. I make a para...

Word / RTF export formatting issues - image and table sizes
A tip and a question about exporting to Word: TIP: One thing I found exporting to MS Word is that images re-scaled themselves. I noticed two things had to be done to avoid this problem: a) I had to check "image causes wrap" in the Image dialogue box and b) (oddly) I had to add an image tit...

Re: Mellel 3.4 is Here!
Nice work with the PDF outline export and linked PDF cross references... much requested features that look great. Some minor comments: 1. It would be nice to be able to select which headings to include or exclude (as bookmarks are excludable) as sometimes document structures don't make sense in the ...

Re: numbering of secondary flow chart elements (Tables, Pict
This is several years after the original post, but this works well. The trick is to move the Table/ Image / Figure structure not just under the chapter level header but under the next level below it. Then refer to Previous #2 and you get the chapter number. Just placing it under the Chapter level an...

Some promising features in Word 2016
First, let me say that I am not a fan of MS Office and use Mellel as my main word processor for sole-authored work. But a good deal of my work involves collaborative writing. This often means that I write a first draft in Mellel, then export to Word for others to edit and comment on. This workflow h...

Re: Dictionary and Spelling
This is a workaround, but if you type the misspelled word into TextEdit, and right click or control click, then you can select "unlearn". Since Mellel uses the OSX dictionary, Mellel will also unlearn the word.

Randomly changing character styles with Sente
I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. Sente references may get re-assigned character styles after scanning references in Mellel. The character style changes to different styles, or not at all, and I can't see any pattern to it. About 15% of my in-text citations are changed to a different fon...

Re: Writing a PhD in Mellel
I have never been able to figure out how to set a page style to always start on odd or even. Please explain how you would do this- it would be a big help.shades wrote:GediWorrier wrote: You could define a Page Style Break so that it would always begin on the odd page.
Thanks
Re: Index
Sorry, you are out of luck. Mellel does not have indexing There is a work around that might work in some instances on http://forum.mellel.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2782 , but I doubt it would work for a large document like a PhD. For one, it is super labour intensive- each index item has to be man...

Re: Layout=2 pages, bug in Mellel or OSX ??
Has this been resolved? It is quite irritating. I don't know that the driver can be blamed. My workflow for this is to print to PDF, then print 2-up layout from the PDF and it works fine. The only program on my setup that does not work correctly for this is Mellel. The word around is a minor irritant.

Re: What's next for Mellel 3.4?
+ 1 for automatically updating ToC (that can be split into different tables for contents, images, tables etc) + 1 for clickable ToC in PDF + 1 for indexing The biggest challenges for me are: 1. The scramble that is cross-referencing. There is a thread on this, which includes cross-referencing by dra...

Re: Large padding/space above inline image
I manage this issue by setting "image causes wrap" to the fourth button, which does not cause the text to wrap. It has been like this since I started using Mellel. This works if you do not want text to wrap around your image, which you can't do anyway if you have a caption on the image.

Re: Landscape rotation
Here is an update for anyone interested in this issue: I had to monkey around to find something that works (barely) 1. The first issue is as reported... landscape rotation has to be done in PDF (not after print because I am printing duplex) 2. The second issue is that duplex formatting often has dif...
