Re: Changing Note Atrributes with unintended results

Eventually, I fixed the situation directly in the exported document in Word, by selecting all the footnotes there. So you left the problem in Mellel unresolved… Just "selecting all the footnotes there" won't fix anything. Therefore, please be so kind and share more details with us about what you di...

Re: Changing Note Atrributes with unintended results

General remarks about adding character styles to a paragraph style Unlike Nisus, where adding character styles to a paragraph style never leads to problems, Mellel is different. Rule 1 If you want to add character styles in Mellel to a text with a paragraph style and want to make the character styl...

Re: Changing Note Atrributes with unintended results

1. Go back to the point in time before you started meddling with the Note attributes and all words with the Small Caps character style were visible in your notes. 2. To begin with, make sure you have a character style called "Note text". Select it by clicking ONLY once on it in the character pane. W...

Re: Vocabulary test

Manually, there is Edit\Markers\Find previous marked text (or next).
This implies that unknown words and phrases be turned into bookmarks with markers to highlight and filter them in the Outline pane.

Thank you for your additional/alternative suggestion.

Vocabulary test

I have just finished reading a long novel in Mellel. I assigned the color magenta to words and phrases that I am unfamiliar with. How can I search for whole paragraphs (or sentences) in which such words appear? I need to get all these words in their proper context and then paste the paragraphs into ...

Re: Keeping caption and figure together

Is this effect a bug or a feature?
Feature, I guess, but if you want to know for sure you'll have to ask the Redlers.

Thanks for the sleuthing.
You are welcome, Paul.

Re: Keeping caption and figure together

The culprit is the figure. Double click on it and uncheck the check-box "Image causes wrap." Caption and figure are now together.

Re: Keeping caption and figure together

The function of the style Figure Placement is to specify that the inserted figure is centered and has a specified spacing before and after it. Yes, that makes sense. By my first test the image had the paragraph style Body, but an own paragraph style 'Figure Placement' allows for better control of w...

Re: Keeping caption and figure together

Ah, so you want the caption to be *above* the figure, now I understand. :–) There is a setting "Keep with next", where one specifies the number of lines in the next paragraph, but this does not seem to work when the next paragraph is an image. The Keep-with-next-field in the Paragraph style palette ...

Re: Keeping caption and figure together

I have an auto-title and style for Figure Title. The style specifies next paragraph as Figure Placement. Just to make sure I get this right. You have a tag flow and paragraph styles called "Figure Title" and "Figure Placement". Right? The figure caption (in your case "Figure Title") is normally fol...

kathymac, Word, Excel and Pages… Humm… It’s obvious from what you write that you are not familiar with Nisus Writer Pro. This thread from the Nisus forum might give you an idea about how to go about this. It’s about creating your own spellchecker. https://nisus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6955&p=...

Re: How can I stop Mellel from defaulting to Helvetica?

Hi Dave, I have created a document template Yes, that's the right way to go. *Save* it as template (see File menu), then execute the New menu command from the File menu (or press Command n). Your template should appear under Custom Templates. Can you see it there? If yes, then go to Mellel Preferenc...
