It's how pdf export from Mellel has worked for many years.
Thank you DavidH. I was not aware of that.

Re: Abbreviations

Is there an easy way to create abbreviations in mellel? One month later, and still no answer… Maybe that's because your question is ambiguous. What kind of abbreviations are you talking about? And for what purpose? If you have a text expanding feature in mind, then the answer is no. Apple's text re...

Reference symbols and Note symbols lose their links after export as PDF

Is it just me, or do other users see this too? I notice that when a document is exported from Mellel as a PDF the link between the Reference symbol and the Note symbol gets lost. The expected behavior would be that if you click or double-click on a Reference symbol in the PDF you would be taken dire...

Re: Separate a bit text and footnote calls

Thank you for posting a screenshot. It's now clear what you mean. I agree with you, this doesn't look good. I was just wondering if there is an "automatic" way to do this. A good question. In "Edit note attributes…" there indeed doesn't seem to be an option to tweak the space between the Reference s...

Re: Separate a bit text and footnote calls

Is there any quick way to add a small space between the footnote call and the text or to separate them in any other way? When you say "footnote call', do you then mean what Mellel calls "Reference symbol"? Or are you referring to the Note symbols? Anyway, the formats and the surrounding text are se...

Re: Help with Find and Replace

Have you tried "alphanumeric" and looking specifically for footnotes? Did you try this yourself? If you did, you would have seen that this doesn't work. "Search in Footnotes" will only find text in footnotes, that is, note text. If I understand the original poster's intention correctly then he is l...

Re: Help with Find and Replace

I am trying to create a Find and Replace that moves a comma or period before a footnote/endnote number within the text. You want to move them or remove them? The superscripted note Reference symbol (in the document text) is not a Citation, therefore "Search in Citations" won't find what you want, o...

Is there a way to find and replace paragraph styles in a document?
Have you tried File –> "Replace Styles…" ?

Re: Numbering Figures

Hello ‪grebmar,
I don't know why there should be any difference.
How about using modern communication technics! :–)

Delete all text, except one or two words in each section, and then upload the file.
I can then tell you which part needs to be fixed.

I use Heading 1 for unnumbered heading because items like Preface then show up in the Outline.
Ah, now I see, that makes sense. I forgot about the Preface. :–)

Thanks for clarifying, Paul.

Re: Numbering Figures

Where Heading 1 is for unnumbered headings, Header 2 is for chapter titles I guess this (unconventional?) use of Heading 1 is confusing grebmar. I find it more straight forward to use just paragraph styles for unnumbered headings, such as Title, Appendix and such. If Heading 1 is used for Chapter 1...

Re: Hyperlinks

Hi Rob, Are you talking about text with hyperlinks you copied from a website? If yes, why don't you just paste the text as plain text into Mellel? Or, after importing is there a way of globally removing the hyperlink and converting it to text without going to each individual link and changing it? I ...

Re: Formatting Autotitle Elements

Hi, When I said I can't see how Appendix 5.A.1. can be created with an Auto-title I was trying to do it with Level 1, which doesn't have any "Previous Level #". The option "Previous Level #" begins with Level 2. The Autotitle in question is defined as Appendix Prev1. Prev5. Prev 6. Curr# .Title When...

Re: Formatting Autotitle Elements

Hello Paul, To beginn with, are you talking about Auto-Titles (= Level 1 to 10) or Tag Flows? I don't see how you can create an Auto-Title as Appendix 5.A.1,I, so I assume you're talking about Tag Flows, which—to make make things unnecessary complicated— are unfortunately also sometimes referred to ...
