Re: Formatting Autotitle Elements

Hi, When I said I can't see how Appendix 5.A.1. can be created with an Auto-title I was trying to do it with Level 1, which doesn't have any "Previous Level #". The option "Previous Level #" begins with Level 2. The Autotitle in question is defined as Appendix Prev1. Prev5. Prev 6. Curr# .Title When...

Re: Formatting Autotitle Elements

Hello Paul, To beginn with, are you talking about Auto-Titles (= Level 1 to 10) or Tag Flows? I don't see how you can create an Auto-Title as Appendix 5.A.1,I, so I assume you're talking about Tag Flows, which—to make make things unnecessary complicated— are unfortunately also sometimes referred to ...

How to find characters *preceded by* certain letters

Let's say I have a document that looks something like this: Text, text, text DOI: 10.1017/CBO9781107295636.005 Text 12.1047/CBO9781107295636.005 DOI: 16.1017/CBO9781107295636.005 text text 18.1047/CBO9781107295636.005 I want to find only the characters FOLLOWED BY the string "doi:", not the string "...

After editing note attributes, unnecessary scrolling to the beginning of a document

Let's say, I'm somewhere in the middle of a Mellel document when I open the note attributes pane in order to check/change some note formatting attributes (Insert –> Note –> Edit note attributes.) When I click on the OK button to close the pane, Mellel always scrolls to the beginning of the document ...

Is it possible to search for document variables in a document?

I inserted a document variable into a very long document, then saved and closed it. I then later realized that I might have inserted the variable at a wrong place, but I'm having a hard time finding the location where I inserted it. Generally speaking, it seems the Find box can neither find a docume...

Re: Footnotes at the Bottom of Page, Not Section

footnotes […] appear mid-page, at the end of a section, rather than at the bottom of the page. How can I fix this? Seems Mellel users have been waiting already 12 years for this to be fixed. See the last post in this thread: http://forum.mellel.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1121&start=15 You should write...

how does one style a text box? If I wanted to do this manually?
You can't apply style(s) directly to the text box itself, but you can select the text *in* the text box and then assign style(s) to it .

Re: Footnotes in the right margin?

Hello Beck, Congratulations! You are the first member who has managed to send a screenshot in this forum! At least yours is the only one I have ever seen. It used to be generally accepted that it was not possible. I asked a question regarding screenshots two years ago after having tried unsuccessful...

Re: Using/Printing comments

Hi Janet, This is interesting and thanks for drawing my attention to this. I see now that you are right. Using Nisus as my daily word processor, I assumed Track Changes and Comments would be displayed in two different panes (or columns), but Mellel seems to follow Word here, which also has Track Cha...

Re: Using/Printing comments

OK, I found it: you turn off comments by deactivating Track Changes Just to clarify and prevent misunderstanding: In Mellel lingo "Track Changes" are not the same as "Comments." Comments are the yellow annotations which reside in the Annotations Pane. You are talking about "Track Changes". At least...

Re: Double-spacing between footnotes

it would be nice to get more precision on this
I agree. Although points allow maximal flexibility in setting the paragraph spacing, it makes sense to have additionally "Lines" as an option in the 'Note text style' pane.
Should we contact Redler with this as a feature request?

Re: Double-spacing between footnotes

If I had entered more text in the footnotes I would have realized that you're right. Sorry about that. Actually, I think this is lastly just an academic question because it's pretty easy, I think, to guess how many points corresponds to one line, based on how the text and the footnotes appear on scr...

Re: Double-spacing between footnotes

Hi Joseph, My problem is that I'm not sure how to compare the units in which the spacing for the body of the text is specified You can use the same unit for both. For the footnotes you choose "Note text style" having Line spacing: Lines and Amount 2. Look at the screenshots here: http://www.mediafir...
