I'm not trying to bang on Mellel, I'm very impressed with this program. What the developers have done in a relatively short time is remarkable and I look forward to watching this program progress through the years. But the Tables behavior has been bizarre for me. I have one document I've done a test...

I'd be happy to. Couldn’t read the last paragraph of your post, somehow on my machine it was formatted with nonsense characters.
If you’d like, send me an email to rmathes1@mac.com and I'll email you a copy of the document that is having the tables trouble.
I appreciate the help, thank you.

I didn’t assign any styles to the table, per se. I opened a new document, typed some text, then added a table and filled it in. That’s it. And now the formatting appears to be hopelessly messed up. The horizontal alignment is fine, but row heights and vertical alignments simply do not work. At all. ...

right now my one attempt at using Tables in Mellel has been a disaster. Trying to get this thing formatted so that all alignments and row heights are the same is impossible, it just won’t do it. I’m either going to have to delete it and re-create it and see if it will do it right a second time, or j...

thanks for the info. I understand the constraints of development. I used to design ERP software for aerospace companies. Always a matter of balancing resources versus desired outcomes. Re tables, I would argue that the ability to sort a table is a fundamental function that it has to have. To me, giv...

wow, you can’t sort tables? That is a VERY surprising limitation in an application that purports to be industrial grade for academic work. How can you include tables and not include the ability to sort them? Even Word does that. Is this something that has been requested in future releases? I don’t w...

also, in reviewing my table, I seem to have some text that is vertically aligned at the bottom of the cell, and some in the middle of the cell. This is odd, because I only selected formatting for entire columns, not for individual cells. So I don’t know why they are different. How do I specify verti...

Tables questions
Just added my first table in Mellel and have two questions. I looked in the application Help menu, and the beginner’s tutorial, but didn’t see answers to either. My apologies if I missed it. First, how do I Sort a table? Surely this is possible. Second, is it possible to format a table (alignment of...

if that would only apply to the text window, then I don’t want to use it for the reason martin lists: I don’t want to clutter my work area and create distractions. Re the outline pane, being able to either create a new column that showed status, or being able to have the font auto-change depending o...

zoul.....thanks. I saw that before but wasn’t sure what it did. It just says ‘auto titles’, so I figured it suppressed their display entirely or something. Donb.....sorry, I'm not following you. I created a new character style called ‘outline’ and specified the font, but I don’t know how to apply th...

gray bar for outline items
seems like for every item I add to the outline pane, it has a gray rectangular background in the main window. How do I shut that off? I suppose it’s there to remind me this is an outline item instead of free text, but I find it visually distracting. I’m hoping I can turn it off or at least change th...

Outlining feature requests
new Mellel user, so I'm not well versed in the history and paradigm of this product. So if my suggestions are contrary to the history and stated development arc of this product, my apologies. But after dipping my toes into the Mellel water, here’s what I'd like to see so far. Interested in whether I...

thanks. Re which documentation I used, all of the above. Re support responses, I understand direct emails can take some time. That’s cool. But they need to fix the registration process. Taking a week to get access to the forum with an app of this complexity is unacceptable, particularly if they are ...

thanks for the replies. What’s the preferred manner by which to submit enhancement requests? re the change from auto number to auto title, they need to update their documentation accordingly. I probably wasted 30 minutes trying to find a palette that doesn’t exist. Heck, they could even use find/rep...
