Re: Mellel Mobile Premium Subscription

Mellel uses a proprietary file format. I caution anyone who would become subject to proprietary dependencies with small applications. I share your reluctance to trust proprietary storage. For my use, Mellel gets a free pass on this one. If you peek, Mellel's file format is not very proprietary. It ...

Re: Mellel Mobile Released

Mellel's subscription plan is pretty gentle. If you stop paying, you can still use the app and all your documents are available to Mellel on your Mac. Besides, word processors are magic things. During the workday, mine is a springboard for my career. At lunch it calls out fraud and makes strong legi...

Re: Join Mellel for iPad beta

The new Mellel ended up beside the TestFlight icon. Moving the new one to its own home screen would be another idea.

Re: Join Mellel for iPad beta

Getting set up with TestFlight tonight, Eyal, and I found a couple of iPad tricks that I think will boost my productivity. If you type on the iPad's virtual keyboard, or, if you open the virtual keyboard, you can press and hold the spacebar. The keyboard will turn gray, at which time the keyboard ar...

Looking forward to Wednesday's meet-up

I'm very interested in hearing how others use Mellel. A stack of index cards, for example, has always sounded like an effective tool for planning a manuscript. Forget a hierarchical outline, just take idea nuggets and put them in logical order. Write that. The reader isn't going to care about a pyra...

Re: auto titles formatting

Herr Doktor Cox, Thanks for the chance to look at your setup and dust off a little German at the same time. My maternal grandparents were born in America of German immigrants. My Mom didn't speak English until she was old enough to attend school, and my grandmother tutored me in German long ago. I w...

Can you link to a sample file, perhaps on Dropbox?

Re: Borders and styles

I saw a tip once about setting borders in table styles. I think that may be the only option. If there is a way it would be good to know.

Re: Mellel Video Meeting

This is a great idea! I don't know how I missed the announcement. I have a group of favorites that I launch any time I want to forage for writing related things. This forum is in that group. I'll do everything I can to make the meetup, if it's open to wayward writer wannabes out here in the Central ...

Re: Is Scrivener Relevant Now Mellel 6 is Out?

I use the Outline in Mellel like I used to use the Draft folder in Scrivener's Binder. I can navigate, filter, and find. That's what I need. Research and notes go in either Devonthink or Curio, depending on my mood. The notes are then useful for more than one draft. I would rather write in Mellel th...

Re: Shading background (not just lines of text)

This is quick and dirty and I ended up with one macro to start the quote and a second to end it. With apologies, these are very simplistic. Also, this will set the paragraph style on the first paragraph, not all paragraphs in a quote if there is more than one paragraph. See above, quick and dirty - ...

Widows, orphans, and staying true to styles

A question for the court, or at least food for thought. Is my solution to a formatting situation optimal? I like to let styles handle appearance. I have enough challenges writing words. I shouldn't add to the workload by trying to second guess how they will look when printed. I have a document with ...

Re: MathMagic and Mellel

I am very interested in this. My math skills are horrendous. I just dabble, but it's important (to me) dabbling.

My favorite math notebook at present is Zengobi's Curio with MathJax. It would be awesome to have equation editing integrated with Mellel, even if in an external product.

Re: Images vanished

This is food for thought, not a solution for Mellel. Curio by Zengobi is sort of a corkboard application. It's my favorite outliner/mind map/concept map tool, and also supports MathJax. That makes Curio a nice math notebook app. One day, MathJax equations started rendering as empty boxes not unlike ...

Re: Images vanished

There is more than one flavor of PDF. Maybe there is a conversion that would help.

Both PDF files and EPS are working here. If you could share a link to your pdf and eps files, I'd let you know if they worked here.
