Re: Changing fonts without losing formatting?
I hope this makes sense. shades: Thanks for that condensed lesson in styles . . . I'll have to read through it several times to see if I can make sense of it, I did see the A B C, etc under the character styles window . . . . But when I first started using Mellel I was under the gun timewise and ju...

Re: Mr Mel drops like a stone w/trying to select & delete
Please report this type of trouble directly to us. If Mellel crashes, send us the crash report. If the crash is consistent with a particular document, also send us the document so we can test, find and fix the bugs that exist in Mellel as they exist in every other software product. Eyal: Alrighty, ...

Re: Changing fonts without losing formatting?
@shades: You said: styles should be used, never the CMD + A solution. That way, when you change the style sheet, the underlying differences (bold, italic, etc. should stay the same). I spent a bit of time trying to add various "styles" in the character styles? menu and in the floating tool...

Re: Mr Mel drops like a stone w/trying to select & delete
eduardus: Thanks for the additional comments, and the suggestion for checking 2.7. I think I had this same problem of Mel crashing and/or sluggish spinning beachball behavior in 2.8 . . . which I think I still have in my Tiger iBook . . . I'll have to check that out later on. So far the newer featur...

Re: Mr Mel drops like a stone w/trying to select & delete
rwg: AH . . . OK, many thanks for that, my use of shortcuts has obviously been somewhat limited to command+ something . . . I'll have to try that out and see if Mr Mel remains standing after that . . . . e.e.p. still seems like email notification isn't happening???? Or were these preferences lost at...

Re: Changing fonts without losing formatting?
shades: Thanks for your reply, I'm also old, slow, and confused . . . but also in a hurry when it comes to word processing, haven't spent the time to "get the styles thing figured out" yet . . . figured that might be the case. Well this change has been painful enough in terms of the time i...

Re: Mr Mel drops like a stone w/trying to select & delete
rwg: Alrighty, many thanks for that info . . . I wasn't trying to select the whole rest, just up to a certain point; but perhaps this method would get me closer to only needing to remodify the few end pages working backward. . . . Still, what's up with the crashing sound of Mr Mel hitting the deck w...

Mr Mel drops like a stone w/trying to select & delete
Folks: Another topic, possibly relating to the "choppy deletion" topic or maybe a separate problem altogether; in the same process of working with getting a document with several hundred pages together, and the previously mentioned change of fonts using the floating toolbar, which also los...

Changing fonts without losing formatting?
Folks: Started to work on another book so I've been back to using Mr Mel, keeping it basic things have been OK. But, yesterday, based upon some feedback about my prior choice of fonts I selected all (command-A) and changed the font by way of the floating toolbar, which seemed to change the font itse...

Re: Default placement of images
Can the default behavior be configured somehow? A: I'm not on my Mr Mel empowered computer right now, but I recall a thread here that addressed your issue and as I recall, yes, the default behavior can be configured. Either Don B's tutorial or Janet had the exact directions, I guess you could searc...

Raymond: Whereas your question may be serious to you it's not really a serious issue as far as using BE is concerned. Jon is willing to address any and all questions regarding the actual use and function of BE. I have several databases in BE, one of them has 1400 citations. Believe me after you get ...

Re: One virtue of export to the misnamed .doc
Paul: Well, from what you've shown in your experiments you seem to be starting from WORD and then all the resulting files are created from there with varying results in volume, but mostly large. Haven't had too much time lately but I was going back to your original statement that TE files were large...

Re: One virtue of export to the misnamed .doc
Nick says rtf file size gets large when there are images in the file. Nick: Good point; I usually think in terms of text only files, but apparently there are people who like images to go along with the story . . . . However, we haven't gotten any follow-up details from Paul on the specifics of his e...

Re: One virtue of export to the misnamed .doc
The file stemming from "export to rtf" is huge, as it should be. . Much of the special Mellel information is apparently lost when information is exported to .rtf. Paul: I'm just hanging on hear because it's curious that you're finding the RTF file to be larger than the Mellel file, as I u...

Re: One virtue of export to the misnamed .doc
Paul: In your two posts it seems like you didn't mention doing a comparo to file size when you export to RTF from Mellel?? You just showed the export to .doc file size and then what happens in WORD--seemingly the file balloons until saved as a WORD file. But what happens doing the same sequence from...
