Re: auto text
Typinator on the other hand is a system wide service that can be used in every writing software. And it works with regular expressions which makes it extremely versatile.

Re: Mellel developers... you out there?
I second what rpcameron wrote too. Of course there are still some features missing, vital for some, not so vital for other users. But what is really crucial about Mellel —and has been for many, many years—is the fact that it is more or less isolated from the rest of the writing world. You can do a w...

Mellel's auto-update function isn't working in the last versions by the way.

Re: "Combo-Saving"
Maybe Hazel is a software that can do what you want: http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php You could set one (or more) folder on your Mac for backups of Mellel and other important software of yours and then create a folder action for that folder in Hazel that copies every new file in there to other fo...

Re: Improved RTF import
Importing .rtf from Scrivener still makes formatting like italics vanish in some parts of the document (it does not flatten the whole text). Pages , LibreOffice , Bean and probably most of the rest of word processors and rich text editors do keep these formattings. So the improvement of .rtf import ...

Re: Small request (option for "paste plain text" as default)
I'm on Mellel 2.9.1 and there's actually two shortcut items named "Plain Text". The first is under Edit->Copy Special, while the second is under Edit->Paste Special. Doing the TUAW tip sets ⌘-V to Edit->Copy Special->Plain Text. I tried to specify a submenu name as well, but couldn't get ...

Re: Small request (option for "paste plain text" as default)
The only thing I could find on changing it at the OS level was this , and that didn't work for me (Mac OS 10.7.3). I'd still like to see Mellel have a "paste-as-plaintext by default (⌘-V)" option! Alt-Cmd-Shift-V is a really nasty short-cut to use regularly :/ Actually retaining formattin...

Re: Selecting all footnotes (a variant)
Nothing much to add to what kjmatthews wrote. Just one thing: If you export, say, from Scrivener , don't set the footnote and endnote numbers to superscripted in the compiling to export settings. You can't get rid of them in an imported rtf file in Mellel —whatever superscript-less format you might ...

Re: Page Numbering
At the start of the document set the numbering in the Page palette to Roman.
Then add a page style break at the end of the fifth page.
Insert the cursor in page 6 or higher and set the numbering to Arabic. Tick "Start with 1".
That's it.

Re: Modifing note stream hot keys
First, cmd-h (dropdown menu item Mellel/Hide Mellel) does not minimize but hide the Mellel window. Minimizing on the other hand you can find in the dropdown menu Window/Minimize. And here you see that the standard keyboard shortcut for minimizing, cmd-m, is set to this item properly. But what you do...

Re: Mellel 2.9 is fantastic
Of course you are all right. I didn't want to say that Mellel now is feature complete. I just wanted to point out that a full version number update like 3.0 in relation to a mere .1 (or more precisely: .08) leap will have to come up with something huge as this small version number leap is actually a...

Re: Mellel 2.9 is fantastic
The internal name of this upgrade must be Troublemaker. Because it will cause the Redlers a lot of trouble finding out what on earth they can add to Mellel to make it 3.0.
I mean, this is just a .9 version and such a huge step forwards! It's amazing. Thank you, guys!.

Re: Now that Lion is out…
I've been using Mellel for long documents (up to 1000 pages) for years. Works great. I switched to lion and scroll doesn't work. Sure, I can use the mouse, and I can page up and down, but I need to be able to click on the scroll icon in the vertical scroll bar and move it up or down a few pages or ...
