Hi!
Just bought the upgrade to 4.
I'm curious if there is a "snap to grid" option in Mellel for text, as in InDesign? I find that the lines are not vertically aligned, and show through the pages. Is there anything like this in the new (or old) Mellel?
Thanks.

Find adjacent words with their differing Character Styles
Greetings! Once again I have a query about Finding and Replacing. I am formatting text and need to find all instances of something like the following:
TextA
BUT, the
and
have their own Character Style, and the TextA has a different character style. Unfortunately there are other block...

Tricky Find and Replace
I need to change a document from a R to L language to a Latin language. It isn't as easy as a character-character transliteration unfortunately. For example, the "a" in the R to L language (ا) can be either "a" or "ә" depending on the word composition. In words with a g...

Please write a better subject line next time.
To answer since I clicked on it without knowing what question would be revealed.... nope, haven't used it. Good luck.

Re: Now that Lion is out…
Mellel is working fine for me too. I upgraded right near the end of a project involving rtl text, 1400+ pages, multiple sections, styles, automation all over... and it's great! I might add it actually seems to run a little quicker. Prior to Lion when I edited something on page 1287 there was a pause...

Have you tried typing your text first using whichever fonts are needed, and then applying the Auto Title to it?

Re: RtL font not joining in Outline window under 10.6
Update: I've updated my OS to 10.6.7, Mellel is at the latest, but the block characters persisted. You can see the progression in the pics I posted. However, I came across an old backup from Leopard, and replaced the Geeza Pro fonts in the System folder with those from the 10.5.x System folder, rest...

Re: RtL font not joining in Outline window under 10.6
Thanks, I will try that.
But, even though I upgraded to 10.6.6, the font rendering stayed the same as in the screenshot of 10.6 Only after I upgraded Mellel a few days ago did the boxes appear. That suggests to me there is something with Mellel which acerbates the situation. What would that be?

Re: RtL font not joining in Outline window under 10.6
I suppose I am glad that Mellel is now 2.8, but the joining issue I experience just got worse! Now there are squares in many spots. Why this change? The font I use hasn't changed since the text appeared fine and joined properly, so it can't be "the font". Something somewhere changed with h...

Re: RtL font not joining in Outline window under 10.6
Thanks for the reply. I tried the various fixes (apart from a clean install) and the non-joining issue remains. It isn't crucial, just inconvenient, especially since it worked fine under 10.5.x.
Anyone know what font is being used for the Outline window? I am using UKIJ Zilwa for the document.

Re: Tight deadline! Please help with RTF export problems.
Do the recipients not have a PDF reader? Do they need to edit the document? Admittedly there are export and compatibility glitches, but why not save/output to a PDF? No guessing there about what the recipient will use <Adobe Reader>.

RtL font not joining in Outline window under 10.6
Interesting issue. After I upgraded my OS to Snow Leopard 10.6 (from the first to the current 10.6.4) the font in the Outline window doesn't join properly. Same version of Mellel under 10.5.x displays the font in the Outline window properly. The font in the document is UKIJ Zilwa. I just assumed wha...

Re: Is there a way to split one table into two?
If you click in the table you wish to change, then click on the Table palette, you will see at the very bottom of the Table palette small icons, two of which have + signs. Those plus signs let you add a column, or a row, to the table you had previously clicked on. So yes, you can make any table into...

Re: Can't Find this pattern to then make a footnote macro
Thanks nicka for the reply. Too bad about macro-izing this process. I can live with that. Do you have suggestion about how to phrase the Find pattern? I find it strange that NWP gets this down so easy, but not Mellel. I've said it before, I'll say it again, I sooo want to stick with Mellel once and ...

Can't Find this pattern to then make a footnote macro
Hi all, I am trying to find every bit of text with footnote markers so I can make a macro which finds the text, cuts it, inserts a footnote, then pastes the cut text into the footnote area. Here is the text pattern I can't seem to find: \f * anycharacter \f* I can find the \f, and the \f * (there is...
