Default placement of images
If I copy-paste an image, it's inserted inline and scaled to the available space (either the table column width or page width), which works alright. If I drag and drop, it's inserted as a float. Can the default behavior be configured somehow? Is it possible to say that all images are inserted as inl...

Re: Mellel and Lion
Sadly, the greatest control and flexibility comes from TeX. It is a beast to use, but it supports every feature I could want, handles OpenType with aplomb, and produces a result that cannot be matched by nearly any other tool on the market. I will have to relearn a bit, since I haven't used it sinc...

Re: 2.8 is great, but . . . . 2.9 wish list
For what it's worth I'd rather have Snow Leopard-type consolidation in 2.9, and GUI revamp and RTF roundtrip in 3.0.

Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)
I fully agree with rpcameron and interface improvements are on the very top of my list. I'm concerned that better communication with word (ooxml and above all style roundtrip) is not in the roadmap.

Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)
Nicka-- I agree with your point about Pages. I meant that the share feature in Pages is inconvenient (imo) and that roundtrip support of the word format (including formatting, document features and comments/track changes) makes it even more irrelevant. Word support is one of the main reasons that to...

Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)
I'm not thrilled about the crossplatform Reader idea. I thnk it diverts development time for little benefit. I can't ask collaborators and readers to install (!) and learn (!!) a new software because I happen to use something different than word. Even in all its apple glory I've never used Pages col...

Re: In case of emergency…
I share the concern of other users about the present and future of Mellel. These are things I would like to see (beyond any specific feature): 1) more of a two-way user-developer relationship: frequent point releases in reaction to user comments (a-la-bookends, or in open beta form a-la-scrivener), ...

Re: Track Changes, what would you like to have?
I think that a lot can be improved to the usual interfaces to track changes (Word, Pages), but first and foremost it is important to have comprehensive, roundtrip compatibility with Word. As pointed independently in other postings by a handful of users (myself included) track changes with no compati...

Re: Mellel 2.7 around the corner...
I think that collaboration means not just track changes or comments, but primarily good and almost-native roundtrip with the major wordprocessor (word). I thought that one of the strengths of switching to xml was that it would allow to advance in parallel on communication with other formats without ...

Re: Mellel 2.7 around the corner...
I completely agree with Nigel. Mellel is becoming irrelevant to me because of the deficiencies in the roundtrip of documents with the rest of the world (including track changes). It's a shame because it really is a good program.

Re: Re Moving to Mellel from MS Word TOC question
Welcome. Am I correct in assuming that I need to create a Paragraph and Character Style for each of the 3 heading styles I want to use in the TOC. Put another way each Heading Style would need to have its own Para/Char style e.g H2’s Para/Char style called perhaps H2TOC, Heading H3’s style to be cal...

Re: Export and cross-refs
I proposed this as well: solve x-refs and export them as regular text rather than live references.
As they work now, cross-references to me are glorified markers: I have to go one by one and change them back to text. But I hope decent RTF support is on the way.

One possibility is to have a gotcha every time a user posts from an unverified computer.
