Re: Replacement text with subscript

Some tasks, such as working with superscripts and subscripts, aren't handled well in any word processing program. If you don't mind purchasing one of the text expansion programs, they are FAR superior for handling superscripts and subscripts that get utilized regularly. The text expansion programs (...

Re: New Service, forgot my code

System worked great, but registration code from email is different from registration code recorded within Mellel 3.3 on my computer. Not sure that matters, but it was a bit of a surprise.

Re: (niche) Feature request: chemical formulae

I know hardly anything about different kinds of fonts, but I have TextExapander create expansions in plain text. Mellel automatically converts the plain text to whatever the current character style happens to be. I've changed character styles in Mellel and then watched new expansions display in the ...

Re: (niche) Feature request: chemical formulae

This is a case where the the text expander programs work really well (TextExpander, Typinator, TypeIt4Me). I use TextExpander, so when I type things like like CO₂ or H₂O, those subscripts appear automatically, whether I'm writing in Mellel, or in a post like this. Once set up, it's far more efficien...

Re: A few ease of use/feature requests

The following quote regarding superscripts and subscripts is from an earlier discussion: I use Text Expander for this, in combination with Charis SIL font, but it's a "mixed bag." The beauty of the Charis SIL font is that it has a full set of numerical superscripts and subscripts, and numb...

Re: re-starting page numbering in footer

Thank you Paul!

To start renumbering in the footer, it works if I insert a page style break. Apparently, I don't need a section break at all.

Your comment was quite helpful.

re-starting page numbering in footer

Hi, I'm probably missing something stupid, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to re-start page numbering in footers. - Using Mellel v 3.2.2, I insert a page number in the footnote using the provided selection box. In the page/attribute palette, I start at page 1 - Next I insert a section bre...

Re: Scanning document (with Sente) won't complete

Sente 6.6 is currently a "Preview" edition. The latest official release is 6.5.18. If the problem doesn't occur in the official release, I'd expect this to be a Sente issue and not a Mellel issue - at least for now.

I use Text Expander for this, in combination with Charis SIL font, but it's a "mixed bag." The beauty of the Charis SIL font is that it has a full set of numerical superscripts and subscripts, and numbers and letters are nicely aligned in their superscript or subscript positions. This is a...

Re: inserting a fraction

To get easy input of fractions, third party software might be worth at least investigating. Text Expander has built in pre-defined fractions. Other text expansion software may also have this capability, but I have not investigated this.

Re: Bibliography for each chapter

Thanks for letting me know about this. I guess I'll have to split my document into multiple files, and then live without: a table of contents, manuscript wide list of figures, cross references that span multiple chapters, continuous page numbers, etc. All that stuff will have to wait until I have a ...

Bibliography for each chapter

Using Mellel with Sente (or Bookends), is it possible to insert bibliography references at the end of each chapter in a multi-chapter manuscript?

Thanks.

Re: Sorting/alphabetizing

Thanks for offering your perspective. Now that I downloaded Devon Technolgies Wordservices, it's quite easy to use the Mellel/Services menu to sort lines. But Wordservices is a third party program and, as far as I can tell, the sort functionality does not exist in the Mellel/Services menu without it...

Re: Sorting/alphabetizing

I created a glossary of terms, sorted alphabetically. To do that, I followed the advice on this forum, first installing DevonThink's WordService utility, and then using the Mellel/Services menu to sort my list. OK, the exercise wasn't too painful. But, my example of creating an alphabetized glossary...

Re: Feature request - jumping around the document

Hi Don, Thanks for getting back to me. I tried your suggestions and your right - neither alternative is what I'm after though the markers will work - sort of. If I create a reference to a target, and I right click on the reference to get the menu choice to jump to the target, then the cursor is at t...
