Re: How do Mellel users take notes?
I'm a scholar of history and thus need to make complex hierarchical structures. For that, the only program I've found that really fits the bill (and is still being developed) is OmniOutliner (Pro version). I had also once used CircusPonies' Notebook and, until very recently, Aquamind's NoteTaker, bu...

Re: Right arrow and tab stops
Yes, I experienced that, too. I filed a bug report. Eyal wrote back to note that it was a bug and that they are going to fix it. How long it will take, I'm not sure.

Re: Bookends integration
Thanks. I've logged out and in. Nevertheless, the problem remains. I hope this is fixed sometime very soon. I'm working on things that will be sent to publishers very shortly.

Re: Bookends integration
Apple Events (the technology used by Mellel and Bookends to communicate) are very buggy on 10.8.2. We are waiting for Apple to resolve these issues. In the meanwhile, you should be able to resolve these issues by logging out and logging back in. "Logging out" and "logging back in&quo...

Re: Making the switch… Any advice?
Indeed, I agree with ealvarez and would go so far as to state this thread an intentional slap. People compare various software on these fora when deciding which to use, not when deciding not to use Mellel any longer. Macula, I think you will find, as Don Broadribb and others (elsewhere) state, that ...

Re: In case of emergency…
C'mon, let's keep on topic. This is very important to me. If something doesn't happen soon I will be switching to Nisus, even though I don't want to. I will not be caught with my "shorts down" again. Jim Jim, I didn't think asking that we be careful about how things were said was "of...

Re: In case of emergency…
It's still them bloody girlfriends, Ori, isn't it? ;) I'm sorry, this ungenerous suggestion, given the lack of any knowledge of Ori's life, is frankly unnecessarily assertive, and I imagine for some perhaps a bit insulting. Let's be careful. Garret, while I understand your admonishment, I believe t...

Re: In case of emergency…
As to some fresh blood -- well, there is some, which you'll witness in how Mellel's look changes in the near future. That's sensational news almost hidden! Months ago when I first took a glance at the then new kid on the block, PageHand , I thought: Wow, this look but with all the functionality and...

Re: In case of emergency…
Dear Ori, There are many who are fans of the program, as you can see, but unless things turn around very quickly and pronouncedly, there won't remain much hope for its future. Your active engagement—announcements, postings, etc.—is crucial for Mellel's future. It makes people excited and confident t...

Re: In case of emergency…
Of course, the problem is that other WP's don't have the combination of Mellel's functions: named markers, the ability to shift self-defined sections in an outline panel, hot-key switching between languages and their associated fonts, etc. If Mellel goes (and the silence is depressing), it's a great...

Keyboard shortcut for markers failing for others?
Hi All,
I have the most recent version of Mellel installed, with OS X 10.6.3. I've noticed that sometimes when I open a document, the keyboard shortcuts for the markers don't work until after I click on the menu selection. Anyone else noticed this? It seems to be a bug, but I'm not sure.

Re: Alarm sounds
Hi Eyal, It happens with all of my character and paragraph style changes, as well as sometimes, if not most of the time, when I add markers. To answer your question, the paragraph and character style were both "regular," or base. The alarm sounded the first time but the text was changed th...

Re: Track Changes, what will you do?
Yes, I agree with Timotheus. There are numerous other options that seem more important, such as, for instance, undo after save, or better integration with Word (alas, still necessary), or better footnote management. One still can't jump from footnote to footnote. I will use track changes but they cl...

Re: Snow Leopard Compatibility
As of today, August 25th, I'm told, compatibility is still an issue. Ori stated that they're "working to OK this in a few days and will definitely intend to include any compatibility adjustment with the upcoming (beginning of next month) version 2.7." So, if you can wait, do. I'm going to.

Re: Snow Leopard Compatibility
This is something I would dearly like to know before I purchase Snow Leopard. If it doesn't work with Mellel, I want to wait for a bit before I upgrade. Would love to hear from the Redlers about this, since Snow Leopard is available Friday.
Cheers.
Cheers.
