Re: Questions about the Mellel XML format

Thanks macsailor, it's been a while since I used Mellel and I had forgotten that. It looks like Mellel2HTML is based on "Mellel2HTMLstructure.xsl". Still's had a StyleOff mode that would remove in-text styling and so that may be most similar to the philosophy Hoffman applied in creating Me...

Questions about the Mellel XML format

Hi, Is this document that I found in the Internet Archive still valid for Mellel's format? It has disappeared from the Mellel web page. "Mellel XML revision A" I didn't find any reference to change tracking, so I'm assuming it's no longer valid. Is there a new version? Also, does anyone ha...

Re: Mellel 2.2.7 is here!

Leopard here, ServiceScrubber (1.1.4) too. And the "Search With Google" service is greyed out (amongst quite a lot of others) and therefore can not be deactivated or otherwise altered in ServiceScrubber. Which indeed is a very useful program. Similar working ones for the Print/PDF menu an...

Re: Latexit, Scrivener, and Mellel

I just discovered Mellel today, researching alternatives to Word. I like software that's rock solid and that's written to be efficient, and I was very impressed with the look and feel of Mellel. I also did some tests comparing the print quality of Mellel output with Nisus and Scrivener and found it...

Re: Mellel 2.2.7 is here!

Speaking of keyboard shortcuts, wouldn't it be good to have some for the new LaTeXit services? Selecting the menu with the mouse takes just as long as the old drag&drop method. Ahhh! There's a piece of free ware called "Service Scrubber" that among other things allows you to associate...

Re: Mellel and Cocoa RTF

I didn't find that this has been picked up in any other thread, so I'll comment here: I find that specifically, Mellel no longer preserves RTF character formatting generated by the Cocoa RTF writer. This would explain the loss of importability from Scrivener. Mellel still reads and preserves charact...

I was trying to do the required search (with bold-faced formatting): [paragraph boundary]{0 or 1 times}[paragraph boundary negation]{1 or more times}[paragraph boundary] This turned out to be a very stupid search and nothing like what I ultimately came up to make run-in headings... I guess PM me if...

It seems like it should be possible with Mellel's current find and replace functionality. It may be, but I can't see how. You can search for things inside an auto-title, but you can't search for auto-titles, so I don't see a way of putting anything after each auto-title (although you can put e.g. a...

Re: Run-in titles

What I would find useful would be a paragraph style option called "Run-in", where the carriage return after the paragraph is automatically replaced by a dot and a space. This way, as soon as you apply an auto-title flow to the title, and the linked paragraph style is automatically applied...

You can also do it without a table. Create a paragraph. Follow the first character "L" with a tab for reasons that will become clear in a minute. Then style the first character as desired adjusting the baseline until it is in the right place. Set hanging indents so that the text on the fol...

Re: Mellel to LaTeX XSLT

My functional XML illiteracy didn't stop me from writing a simple Mellel to LaTeX Converter in XSL. It's more like a proof-of-concept, but I find it already amazingly useful. I like it so much, that I use Mellel now instead of TeXShop (sic!). You can download it from my website . I agree this is gr...

Actually, I have emailed my question to Redlers in between, and they have answered that they intend to add this feature in a future release. Good news! ...hrmhrm, can't work it out in 2.2.5 - is it actually fixed? Mark Nothing was mentioned in the release notes about a new feature allowing you to l...

After playing around with paragraph spacing a little bit more, it seems that the new feature compares the spacing values of two consecutive paragraphs and sets the spacing between the two so as it will match the higher value. E.g. if para one is "space after 2" and the following para two ...

Re: Mellel 2.2.5 is out...

Paragraphs "Space above" option calculated based on largest spacing value. Does this mean that the before/after spacing values are no longer additive, but that they now function similar to Word's before/after spacing? I first thought it would be as you described, but it seems not to work ...

If I go back to the first postings of this thread, my impression was that some users that don’t use styles extensively are searching for a solution to mix styles with ad-hoc formatting without loosing the ad-hoc information when you change a style or variation. Working on documents from other peopl...
