Re: Bug? Random crashes when I press F5 (fixed?)

Now that the semester is over, I have had a chance to methodically attempt to back trace some of the things I did prior to finding the apparent bug that caused Mellel to crash. After many hours of experimentation and trying to remember what I had installed in what order and what I had modified, I th...

Re: WHY?

Perhaps the questions you should ask yourself are: 1. are you going to collaborate with someone? (I had to send early drafts to my dissertation director halfway across the country and he worked on a Mac and I on a PC. He did not used Word's commenting, btw, just inserted his comments in my text usin...

Re: Bug? Random crashes when I press F5

If you could send us a report, detailing the problem as much as possible, that would help ineeed. Ori, I just sent a report (yesterday I think) via the Mellel Support form. I hope I was clear on how and what is happening and that the crash report dump is helpful. I want to say thank you in advanced...

Bug? Random crashes when I press F5

I hope this is just a minor thing that can be addressed and solved easy... While working and selecting a new font variation via the F keys, Mellel will randomly crash when I press F5 and only F5. It seems to be more 'predictable' if I first select some text, then apply a new Character style and then...

Re: Scrivener-Mellel footnote problem

Like I said, it's not a problem of export settings in Scrivener. I use Scrivener a lot and know how to handle it. And the 'keep format' box is checked nearly always when I'm compiling the draft. The formats are definitely part of the exported file as I can see when I open it in TextEdit or NeoOffic...

Re: Scrivener-Mellel footnote problem

I'd like to extend Mark's question: If you export Scrivener texts as rtf files and re-open them in Mellel italics, font sizes etc. are flattened. Again, in TextEdit they are not, so it's not a problem of Scrivener or wrong export settings. If you check the boxes 'keep format' in the tab 'Content' i...

Re: Keyboard Shortcuts

Thanks all of you. But sadly your hints doesn't help becausee I wanted to make a shortcut for export as rtf but now my shortcut wants to import a rtf. It is logical after all you wrote but that's a weak comfort. So I will have a look at the other solutions. With Menu Master and Keyboard Maestro (an...

Re: Keyboard Shortcuts

Could anyone tell me what is the correct syntax in the system preferences to divide submenus from the menus in order to get shortcuts to work? Thanks in advance. You simply type in the submenu exactly as it appears in the program. For instance, to get a keyboard shortcut in Mellel to access the las...

One problem I have found using OSX's keyboard shortcut assignments with Mellel is that you can not assign shortcuts for other menu items that are not in the main menu bar (at the top of the screen). For instance, I wanted a shortcut for "Show all invisible characters" that is found within ...

Yes, I guess, hand correcting a 'final' draft could be done by changing the offending spaces... (Now that I think about it, if I have to send a digital file in the 'other' wordprocessor format to the publisher, it takes care of the problem). jannuss wrote: What do you mean about not being able to ad...

That is unfortunate. Thank you for the tip, though, but the style sheet of most journals I work with requiere left justification (and are quite firm on this). Generally, my problem comes up on the bibliography where I use a left justified hanging indent and the titles of the works can often extend m...

Underlining

Is it possible to prevent Mellel from underlining the spaces between words at the end of a line of text? That is, when the text reaches the margin and automatically wraps to the next line, Mellel extends the underlie on the blank space between the last letter, the natural space that one places betwe...

no line numbers?

Yes, please oh please add the ability to a add line numbers to a section. I often (almost every semester) have to put together documents that must include line numbers and every time I have to go back to (gasp!) MS Word. So far my experience with Mellel has been good (although the learning curve is ...
