Re: Feature request: split view

I would love having this feature! Great for long documents.

Re: Mellel font size

It looks like you simply work with two different zoom levels. Mellel and Word both allow you to look at your paper at different sizes. In Mellel you can adjust the zoom at the bottom left of your Mellel window. There you’ll find a field that displays 75% 100% or 128% or a similar percentage value. I...

Re: Unable to access Lists

No Problem here (OS X 10.6.6, Mellel 2.8.1 build 4).
Have you tried using a different font or a different Style set? Have you installed, activated or deactivated some fonts recently?

Re: Free updates for life?

Is there any way for current paid users to get some kind of free code so that the Mac App Store version of Mellel could be downloaded and we could update there from now on? Currently the AppStore (or Apple) doesn’t offer any way of transforming a normal license to an AppStore license. You only can ...

Re: Free updates for life?

Firstly, free updates is Apple policy, which the Redlers have to abide by to hop on the App Store gravy train. ;) The App store could only increase the exposure of Mellel, so I think it's probably a net "good thing" for them. This is a »current« policy on the very first version of the Mac...

Re: The track changes doesn't work

Raymond,

while the company itself is named redlex (with an x at the end) the correct domain is redlers.com (with an s at the end) so you should try to send the report again to support@redlers.com instead of redlex.com.

Re: Free updates for life?

I was also worried (and I am still) when I’ve read those line about the new free updates of Mellel. While typically one should be happy to get free updates for life, maybe I use computers and software long enough to have seen other companies failing with the same approach. One example was GraphicCon...

Re: Feature Request: line numbers

I guess Mellel was not initially developed or designed to be a tool for »serious writers« but was chosen by many people because of its robust features. Unfortunately, line numbering is not among those. Currently (and since December) a beta of Mellel 2.8 is in the hands of some beta testers, waiting ...

Re: Feature request: remove splash screen for registered users

Good point, but why do you even close Mellel if you need it several times a day? I typically let Mellel run for days and put my Mac only to sleep mode. In this case, I neither see the splash screen nor have to wait for Mellel to start up. If it really hurts you, you could “hack” Mellel to get a vers...

Re: In case of emergency…

1) if Mellel's XML format were documented then other people could write convertors to LaTeX, rtf, doc, docx etc. etc. http://www.mellel.com/download/developer/Mellel XML Documentation Rev A.pdf Maybe the link should be like this: http://www.mellel.com/download/developer/Mellel%20XML%20Documentation...

Re: In case of emergency…

I agree with most of the people here and find Mellel’s development too slow and the information from the developers too few. We all know, that some features require longer periods of time than others and that Mellel’s complexity grew over the last few years, but the percieved „silence“ tend to frust...

Re: weird icon on update

The icon shows a generic application icon that could not be started for whatever reason (that’s what the white strike out circle stands for) So it seems that something went wrong with your update. I recommend to download Mellel again from the Redler’s site, delete the wired icon and install the new ...

Re: Transferring text

I think your post doesn’t contain sufficient information to help you. What should we see on the screenshot, which window belongs to which application. Are the difficulties the same for OpenOffice and NeoOffice? Could you provide an example Mellel document or the document in question? Have you tried ...

Re: Embed Fonts?

There’s currently no option to embed fonts into a Mellel document. This may be because of the copyright that applies to most fonts (the Warnock Pro package, consisting of 8 font faces, costs about $ 230 – so Adobe would not be happy, if you distribute it to other users). The only way to ensure prope...
