Mojave compatibility

Hello fellow Mellelers,

I probably missed this way back when in the release notes, but I can't seem to find the information anywhere. Is Mellel compatible with macOS 10.14 Mojave, including dark mode? Has anyone experienced any issues?

Re: Some humble suggestions

If it is ever decided to offer a unified inspector pane (like Pages and many other native apps) instead of the floating palette (current interface), could you please leave the option to have the floating palette? On a multi-monitor set up the floating palette is my preference, but I can understand w...

Re: desideratum: the zero-width joiner for Syriac

I've found a kind of workaround, for those who are interested. Examining the codepages for the Meltho font revealed that an Arabic joiner character U+0640 is available. Turns out it works with the Meltho Syriac fonts in Mellel. It is not zero width, but it makes manuscript editing possible. I assign...

Some find and replace challenges

Greetings, I'm in the midst of cleaning up various aspects of a long mellel document. I need to remove all tables and replace them with graphics. I have done so for most, but the statistics palette tells me that there are still two tables remaining in the document. I'm not sure where these tables ar...

Re: trouble with unwanted repetition in citations

Well, I believe I found the answer to my own question. In the Bookends user guide, I found the following line: Note that you can't mix Cited Pages and "quoted text" together at the end of a citation. If you want to cite a page followed by a comment, place both after a \ as "quoted tex...

trouble with unwanted repetition in citations

Greetings to all, Does anyone else have a problem using the live bibliography feature in conjunction with the Bookends feature that allows one to place literal quoted text between backslashes in a temporary citation? I use this feature frequently, and for some time now, Mellel has been duplicating t...

desideratum: the zero-width joiner for Syriac

Greetings all. I've been trying to determine whether it is possible in Mellel to insert a zero-width joiner using the Meltho fonts for Syriac. So far, although there is an option in the Insert menu to insert zero-width joiners for Arabic, there does not seem to be a way to do this in Syriac. The Mel...

Re: Which superscript feature to use?

Thanks. You confirm what I suspected. I'm just beginning to try to use the opentype features of certain fonts, and this turns out to be one of the most useful in my case.

Which superscript feature to use?

Fellow Mellelers, Mellel seems to permit at least two different ways of using superscripts for footnotes. Option 1: check the "superscript" boxes in the edit footnote stream dialogue box, and (typically) save this setting to the footnote stream. Option 2: define a character style for the n...

Unexpected behavior with Linguist Software font and Mellel

Hello fellow Mellelers, I'm having unexpected behavior with Linguist Software's Translit LSU font for Semitic transliteration, and I'm wondering if others have had the same issue. Here's the problem: According to the font documentation, particular keystrokes provide the Unicode "Combining Left ...

Re: Problems with a long document variable

Thank you. At least it is good to know where things stand. I think in the meantime I will try breaking the long title up into a title and subtitle, each one stored in a separate variable. That's the only workaround I can think of.

Problems with a long document variable

I'm using Mellel to write an article with a lengthier title than usual. As is my custom, I'm using the Title document variable. Even though I can input the long title into the Document Setup dialogue, the full title does not display correctly in the document. It is cut off at the document boundaries...

ahankinson,

Thanks for the help! Is there a particular mellel related reason why you recommend upgrading to Leopard?

Advice on Upgrading

Fellow Mellelers, I am still running Mellel 2.5 on one of the original white MacBooks with OS 10.4. I have resisted upgrading until now, because I have been busy writing my dissertation, and I am quite happy with v. 2.5 as it stands. Now that my rough draft is complete, however, I am considering the...
