Document styles

I really like the strongly style-based approach of Mellel, and I think it should be merged with various settings that only can be set in a Template or through preferences. In particular I would like to propose to include a "document" style that can be part of a style set. A Document Style ...

why is there a separate "learned spellings"

I just noted that Mellel has a separate list of "learned spellings" located in Library > Application Support > Mellel > Learned Spellings and is not using the system-wide custom spelling lists located in Library > Spelling This seems strange to me. Why not store those spellings which a use...

Re: Export and cross-refs

Hi DRM, I noted this shortly after the beta-test period of 2.5, and contacted Ori about it. He replied that it is known behaviour, because the detailed cross-references structure of Mellel cannot be mapped onto the much simpler structure of Word/RTF. Further, the only kind of cross-references that a...

Coming back to this old discussion, I would like to offer a different possibility for a draft mode (which I personally would really like to have). As all our screens are getting bigger (and wider!), what about a draft mode consisting of two parallel side-by-side screens: - one for the text - one for...

Image Names in MelXML

I just had a look at the Package Content of a Mellel File, and I found a nicely organised folder with all the images that I have in my document. However, why are all these images renamed (IMG_0.pdf etcetera)? Could they also keep the original name, or is there some technical problem prohibiting that...

Actually, I got a reply from the developer of LateXit in the meantime. I asked him: "do you have any idea why Latexit service won't work in Mellel ?" And this was his answer: Actually, Yes. I have written to Mellel developers to ask the same question, and they told me that it is because Me...

Latexit service won't work?

Does anybody know why the system-wide services from Latexit won't work in mellel? it would be much easier to perform the LaTex to PDF conversion within Mellel, instead of switching between Mellel and Latexit all the time.

To Ori: I *do* find the current situation very misleading, that's the reason I posted this in the first place. When I am editing a text, and want to insert the pointer at the end of a line somewhere in the middle of a justified text, then I click in the right margin, and the pointer gets inserted at...

I completely agree that the text placement should not be changed.

However, I don't know about possible technical problems, but as a user I would really prefer the cursor to go into the margin.

M$ Word can do it...

I think you misunderstood my problem: I think the placement of the cursor at the end of the justified sentence is wrong. It should be visually placed after the space, where it logically belongs. I would be glad to hear about possible reasons in favour of the current behaviour. I for me only find it ...

"Show" pop up as palette?

When changing more than one "show" setting, I have to repeatedly click on the "show" pop-up at the lower left of the window. I would much prefer a palette with check-boxes with the different "show" settings. Then I would only have to click to open the palette, and then ...

Zoom options in palette and/or menu?

The zoom can be selected in the Toolbar or through the Keyboard shortcuts. However, I normally do not have the Toolbar shown, and I somehow don't like these mac-zoom-shortcuts. I would prefer to have a zoom pop-up in the Palettes and/or a (sub)menu with the different zoom values.
