Support for BibTex in Mellel
It would be really good to see some sort of support for using a BibTex database as a reference source in Mellel. I understand that Sente and Bookends are great reference managers, but there are also good reasons why someone might want to use another reference manager. Most will export to BibTex form...

Oddities with keyboard navigation in tables
The improved keyboard navigation in tables that 2.7 introduced is hugely welcome! However, there seem to be two issues: Cmd+arrow key combinations When in a table cell, it seems that cmd+right arrow is equivalent to pressing tab and cmd+left arrow is equivalent to pressing shift+tab . This means tha...

Re: Save as pdf dialog and footnote display
I also have 10.5.2 and the .mellel still appears before .pdf when saving as a PDF from the print dialogue. I don't think it's a system issue, because other apps (e.g. Pages) don't do this. I agree it would be nice if this were fixed.

Re: Landscape and Portrait in the same Document
The image is still small, and now there is the problem of 'resizing' it, in addition to the fact that we have double margins (because it is inserted *inside* the new Mellel doc. You could make everything in the original landscape image slightly larger and set the document to have no margins. Then w...

Re: URGENT: opening recovered files (.ole)
You might want to consider downloading TextWrangler , which is an excellent text editor. It will open any file and you should be able to use it to at least see if there is any recoverable text in your files. Out of interest, before the erasure, were your Mellel files in the old .mel format or the ne...

which is similar to what was suggested by jolinwarren on Thu Mar 13, 2008 11:25 am. Yes, the command you used to rebuild the LaunchServices database is very similar to what I suggested. The only difference is that in your command, LaunchServices only searches the Applications folder(s) for document...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
Janet, sorry for the confusion -- I understand now! I re-installed it (it reports an error, as posted by another user) and I probably shouldn't have done that. Verma, I don't think that reinstalling the plugin caused your problem, as I also reinstalled the plugin. The issue with the incorrect kMDIte...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
2. mellel.mdimporter is in the root /Library 3. I downloaded the Spotlight plugin, but it says OSX 10.4 only. That makes me reluctant to reinstall. If the mdimporter is in your library, there should be no need to reinstall. Just make sure you're running 10.5.2 and have the drive re-indexed using th...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
did you re-index the whole drive, or folders? I've tried with a folder (in and out of privacy) - and it didn't work. No content found. Tried the same file with a keyword - file found. I re-indexed the whole drive. Not sure that just doing it with a folder has the same effect, because Spotlight is s...

Re: Spotlight for Leopard
Thank you for your tip and sorry for the belated reply. I re-installed the Mellel spotlight plugin and tried reindexing by "/usr/bin/mdimport -r /Library/Spotlight/Mellel.mdimporter" but it does not seem to have worked. I still cannot search contents of mellel documents. Searching Mellel ...

That's fine but I haven't found an easy solution if you want to have a caption below each of those pictures. Ahhh, I see. Yes that poses more of a problem. You might be able to do this by inserting a section break directly after the table and then setting the following section to two columns. I don...

Re: columns
I think the reason it's hard to find is that most developers aren't targeting technical writers. It's not just technical writers that need parallel columns. They would be a major help in side-by-side translation/commentary. Yes, sorry, that's true. I should have said "targeting people who are ...

Re: columns
I think it's a big problem to makte parallel columns possible, see: pages, nisuswriter, openoffice/neo office, papyrus, they all don't habe this feature. Only ms word offers this about the tables, but I don't wont to work with ms word. Well, WordPerfect 5.1 on DOS had parallel columns back in the e...

Are you looking for the ability to have column 1 on page 1 continue to column 1 on page 2, instead of to column 2 on page 1? As described in this thread? If so, it is a common feature request. See here and here as well. I'm sure there have been other posts requesting this, but I can't locate them ri...

The auto-titles in tables would be really useful for me, especially as I am often using two images side by side, and need to put the images in a two cell table (anyway that's the way I had to do it on word 2004). Why not put the images in a table, and use an auto-title immediately before or after t...
