As long as they don't support external bibliography apps, Pages is not interesting for academic writing. Although I love the biblio palette in Mellel, keep in mind that Bookends still works pretty well if you just insert citations and then scan. I don't know how well it works in Pages though. Certa...

question for Word users - pasting selection
I thought that I've done this successfully in the past, I'm not sure why it's not working. But when I go to copy a selection of text from Word and paste in Mellel, it is apparently showing up as an image instead of text. Also when I go to select in Word, it is putting brackets around the selection, ...

Re: Temporary Citation Object
The new bibliograpic features are very nice. I have been using the Scan/Unscan feature quite a bit. However, the temporary citation object now appears to be different: larger than previously. . I have the same issue, it used to be smaller text. When I updated it became the same size as my regular t...

how do I add page numbers?
I thought I knew how to do this, but now I'm having trouble. I just want to have the page number in the header or footer on each page. I tried checking the options for header and numbering in the Page palette, but that didn't work. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help...

need simple math equation
If I want to insert a simple equation using a square root (the math special characters does not have a square root), do I need to use some kind of math software for that? My alternative is to use just Word for this. I was trying to copy the equation from there, but that didn't work. Edit: I was able...

One feature of the outline pane I would like is for it to highlight the section that my cursor is in inside the main window. This is useful especially when using find for words. Once I find a word I usually don't know where I am in the paper. If the outline would shade the auto-title that I am unde...

search for citation object in text?
Is there a way to search for a citation object in your text? I thought there was a way to do it from the biblio palette, but now I can't figure it out if you can.
