Thank you for the update. BUT… can you give us any hint about indexing and xref ? This is a whole lot more crucial to me than some of the new features. I have been waiting for 2.2 to transfer long documents written in Framemaker Win. Without indexing and xref, Mellel is a nice note taking tool but s...

Boban, Rest assured, I am not writing in InDesign. I write the text in RTF, mostly in Mellel (or Word if I have to switch computer), then I place the whole text in InDesign and go from there. I agree with the positive reviews of the outline and long document capabilities of Mellel, so much better th...

As I said, it all depends on what you want to do. If you want to write a text with music scores, I would use Latex since it does it beautifully and easily. As far as loading packages in Latex, it pretty much does it for you and you only do it once. If you need serious indexing, Mellel will not do it...

If you write about music, I would definitely consider switching to LaTeX. It has packages to write music scores quite painlessly. The bibliography can be handled by BibTeX. CUP uses Latex for some of its publications and Cambridge University has lots of resources for LaTeX at http://www-h.eng.cam.ac...

Are all the fonts garbage or just Heb. Greek? If so, it all depends on the fonts used in the original file. You need to make sure you have the fonts on your Mac too. Ideally your instructor should use Unicode fonts. That's probably all it is. Otherwise import the files in Mellel (File Import). If th...

I find the lack of Change Case feature (irrespective of the Small Caps or All Caps difference) extremely annoying. I have a whole page of text of text that some University asked to be in all caps to change by copy-paste into OpenOffice back to Mellel. Such basic feature should be present in a word p...

Integration with DT would definitely be a major attraction to switch to Mellel. I have been testing Mellel and DT. I will adopt DT but probably would not adopt Mellel long term and not advise it to my students were it not to integrate will DT.
