Re: Extremely annoying bugs/shortcomings

I'm not sure if there would be a problem in doing what I am about to suggest, so I defer to anyone who is *in the know*. But, would it not be possible for Mellel to remap the Cmd-i and Cmd-b key commands to the appropriate style variations? Could this be setup by default in some way? I guess each fo...

Re: Checking spelling in selected text

Also...what about adding support for the pretty much system-wide function of Control-Command-d while your mouse is placed (but not clicked down) over a word to pull up the dictionary and thesaurus for that word.

I find this very convenient, rather than having to visit the Dictionary app.

Re: Wishlist 2008

There's some great ideas already, but what I would also like to see are... - improved management of styles for true facing page printing, e.g., a style (that maybe used for the beginning of a chapter) must start on an odd page. Other people elsewhere have expounded on what additional options might b...

And what about making the autotitle behave like email addresses in Mail.app? You hover on it, the title transform into the blue rounded thing with the little right arrow on the right. If you press the arrow you can choose to edit the autotitle or change its level. I also thought of something like t...

Variables field shading

After inserting a Document Variable I would like to be able to easily see that it is a variable, not some standard text.

Something like the citation shading (perhaps a different colour, though) would be suitable.

Paragraph Spacing with lists

I would like to see Mellel have an option to have 'smart' paragraph spacing inside lists. What I mean by this is... In making a new list style, have a check box for "Smart Paragraph Spacing". What this will do is disable the 'before' and 'after' paragraph spacing of the paragraph style bet...

Another vote

Feaure Request "Actions on Find"

In the indexing thread, Maria wrote what I think is an awesome feature request... Finally, some time ago I suggested to implement "actions on Find", which means that one cannot only replace text/style with some other text/style but also can convert something found into footnotes, headers o...

I completely agree with Mats. The ability to add contextual text like, "above", "below", "facing" etc is important. I also support the notion of two way navigation. I would like to be able to select some text and see (e.g. in a palette or the browser) what are the links...

The forum is active but is very disorganized, and discrete feature requests/ideas/bugs are hard to track. Users feel their passionate contributions go unheard. The collective wisdom and passion is not being properly or productively channelled. joe, I believe that you have succinctly captured the es...

Re: Some ideas from another recent switcher

Could I suggest that Redlers please corral several of the expert users (or maybe lots of non-experts as well) and conduct a formal user interface design session/s to plumb the great depths of talent of the posters on this forum. Maybe it could be done text forum based, or via web conference interfa...

I find typing two hyphens much more natural than the somewhat awkward key combo in Mellel Actually, if you use other apps as well, you will find the "Mellel" key combination to be useful. As it's not actually a Mellel key combination, but system wide. So, once you get used to using it, yo...
