Re: Mellel 3.0 wish list
Thanks for compiling this list. Additionally, although not necessarily urgent, but I think relevant if we write documents that are meant to be read on screen (and not or not only in printed form): a) Responsive layout, i.e. the option to define certain properties of document in relation to the size ...

Re: What's next for Mellel 3.4?
Text boxes, attachable (as captions) to images … And Indexing … Basically anything that reduces the need to recheck the document manually after changes. Just a thought: We write texts more and more for digital reading, which often means/would ideally mean: "responsive layout", i.e. a layou...

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
Just to restate my preference: As I am using my the style sets for different languages, I’d prefer a "third" method (sorry, no idea how to implement this), something that let’s me use one style set for different languages. (It that sense, the existing method works already quite well, excep...

Re: Setting the language for the spell-check
I second the wish that there needs to be a third method to assign language to parts of the text. Choosing the language manually has worked fine so far for me, but confronted with long documents that include many footnotes, I’d want to avoid to have to manually select all of them. I use the same keyb...

Re: and on to 3.1
Is Mellel also meant to grant the reader who reads long documents digitally some flexibility, like adjusting the type size or even the font (like in the diverse book applications available)? A future 'Mellel reader' , mentioned by the Redlers in their outlook in one of the forum posts ('Mellel light...

Re: and on to 3.1
Thanks for this update and for the effort to improve Mellel – also in unexpected ways: e.g. live bibliography struck me first as something unusual, but it is a feature that I am constantly using now. Concerning bibliography: I like the fact that the bibliography can now be placed and updated anywher...

Re: Two types of page margins? And: German localisation
I did not have time to do much "testing". The basic thing I first wondered about was why that my page margin settings have not been incorporated into the page style. This is obviously not a transition that Mellel does for you, but one that you have to do yourself, ie. in all of my four pag...

Two types of page margins? And: German localisation
The new Mellel looks great and so far works great. Thanks for this release! There’s a set of related questions I have about the new page margins: Are the page margins that are accessed via the palette ("Margins and Orientation") different from those defined in the page style attributes? I'...

Mentions from another chapter
In my page headers, I show so-called mentions, i.e. the names of the corresponding auto-titles, in this case main chapters and sub chapters. On even pages, they show the main chapter, on odd pages the sub chapter. The problem is the following: Sub chapters from the previous main chapter are shown in...

Re: Indexing...
Will there be a way to automatically list all words, of course with the possibility of excluded words? I am well aware of the fact that simply compiling a list of words is not an index. But it could be a starting point for those concepts explicitly mentioned in the text. If one could keep and manage...

Re: Feature Request: line numbers
Ok, ok, now that I am more aware of indices, I see them more often. Still, the need for those seems to depend on the national/language context too. In our context, this was not an issue up to now. But as I said before: This is of course a feature that should be built in. I did not mean to say indice...

Re: Feature Request: line numbers
Indexing is an important feature, of course, and I’d like to see it too, but I am using Mellel in an academic environment and nobody has ever mentioned anything about indexing. So that Mellel is also a tool for "scholars" is not a joke or false, it simply correct. There are scholars that d...

Image, placed inline, with caption in proper place.
Just found a way to ‘tie’ captions to pictures, so the caption won’t flow to the other page without the picture. It’s not for the option discussed above in this thread; it leaves very limited options to place the picture, and most of the experienced users will know this. But since I just discovered ...

Re: 2.8 is great, but . . . . 2.9 wish list
In my list over here, http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2455&sid=cc8f50d9613b11fb4b901586341a0045#p14369 I've forgotten one more feature: a baseline grid ('per' paragraph, ie. with the option whether a certain paragraph (style) should 'follow' the grid or not). For the current boo...

Re: Feature Request: line numbers
Thanks for the reply, nicka. It does indeed work the way you describe it: the key between the "y"- and the "shift"-key does it, and it works great eg. in Safari. But: As I was unaware of that, I changed the shortcut for using lists in Mellel to exactly the very same short cut. So...
