Re: Making an Index with Mellel

Several people have asked me for copies of my indexing idea. Essentially, it makes use of the Reference system which has been in Mellel for some years now. Whenever you put in a Bookmark or an auto title, Mellel asks you to fill in a Target ID. What you fill in as the Target ID turns up in the Exist...

Re: Making an Index with Mellel

I need to point out that in order to send this tutorial+index from my drop box to yours, you need to send me your email address, so that I can ask the drop box people to send you a message with the appropriate code reference for accessing my drop box.

Making an Index with Mellel

Very few users of Mellel are aware that hidden among Mellel's treasures is an indexing facility. I have made an index for my Tutorial which, as far as I can tell, creates a reliable and highly customizable index for your manuscript and places the index at the end, although it is simple to locate it ...

Re: Fett, kursiv

The method is actually quite easy. First of all, open the Styles menu and then click on "open styles sets". This will bring up a window which contains all of the styles sets Mellel happens to have at present. In the character column of the style set which you use you will find a list of it...

Re: lodging a complaint (Mellel too complicated!)

At first it sometimes looks like a newly downloaded template consists only of a title page. But further investigation will show you that the entire style set is actually there. First, make sure you have put the downloaded items in the right place. The Tutorial and the Guide do not talk about this. T...

Yes, a template is a full style set.
If you go to Mellel's website, at http://www.redlers.com/download.html#An ... ials-47857 near the bottom you will find a substantial list of Templates.
Yes, a template is a full style set.

Re: Spell Catcher and Mellel

I suspect that Spell Catcher has not been updated for Mountain Lion.

Apart from that, I have never had any luck with Spell Catcher, so I haven't tried it with Mountain Lion.

Re: Save Version/Discard changes

Mellel 3.0 allows you to use the new standard Lion saving settings, or the traditional Mellel saving settings. You choose this via the Mellel Preferences. Your message indicates that your save-settings are those of Lion. You can change them to the traditional Mellel system of save/save as with the P...

Re: Spellchecking: German (Switzerland) not working

Do you have a German (Switzerland) Spelling dictionary installed? As far as I can see, Apple does not provide a separate keyboard for German (Swtzerland), and this may be the root of the problem. Mellel 3.0 requires that a separate keyboard be chosen in order for it to automatically switch language ...

Re: Keeping a table together

It is possible, of course, to make a more or less unlimited length page with Mellel, by going to the file menu and in the print dialog customizing the size to however many centimeters in length and width you want. This will make an extraordinarily long page in Mellel and you could put your entire ta...

Is there a chance that you have Preserve styles rather than Update styles ticked in your Mellel Preferences' Open and Save dialog?

Re: drawing a line across the page

Yes it is possible. Set a reverse tab at the right margin. Set the tab lead for "low line". Use the tab key to make the line. Note that you can make the line heavy or light, by using the font palette to choose normal or bold, and you can make it thick or thin by increasing or decreasing th...
