Re: Image in wrapped text, with caption in proper place.

Ditto. Images in frames/text boxes, and auto-titles and anything else in frames, too. Text boxes/frames anywhere, too ... as table cells, and inside other text boxes/frames ...

Re: Feature suggestion: The possibility of linking to images

Ah, yes, I see ... linkback would be orthogonal, but could be included as part of such an external link reference system (with image caching, of course)

Re: Wishlist for version 2.6

... yes, yes to floating graphics/tables ... and I'd prefer that this be done as generalized floating or fixed "frames" or "panels" that can contain *anything* that Mellel can include. ... and as long as you are fixing graphics, how about including LinkBack support ( http://linkb...

Re: Wishlist for version 2.6

Gosh, I love the new cross-references ... hopefully the follow-ons will be as elegantly done! 1. Most urgent: 14 (better tables - see below), 15 (better image handling - see below), 19 (improved Word compatibility) 2. Second choice: 1 (indexing), 6 (page orientation/page setup styles within a doc), ...

How do you keep table rows together?

I can't figure out how to keep table rows together ... the paragraph format of the cells doesn't seem to work, and there is nothing in the tables inspector that seems to apply.

split/merge table cells

Here's another place that Mellel should pick up some FrameMaker functionality (instead of Word's not-so-well-thought-out version). When table cells are merged, the underlying divisions should NOT be removed, they should just be disabled so that text/figures/whatever can fill the resulting merged are...

Floating frame for graphics and text (text box)

As several people have noted on the email reflector, it would be extremely nice to have frames (rectangles of independent content of any type) that can be placed anywhere on a page. The frames could be attached to a particular page by location (x/y or relative to page - "top/middle/botton, left...

Yep, an important feature ...

This is another nice feature of FrameMaker ... in the "create Acrobat links" option, you can indicate which paragraph styles you want to include in the PDF TOC, and also whether you want to include index links ...

Setting styles from keyboard by alphabetic shortcut

Another one of the (few) nice things about Word's UI is the ability to set the style of something using user-assignable shortcuts. It works like this: select anything in a paragraph use shortcut for "set para style" (in word, this is cmd-shift-s) type full style name or shortcut hit the re...

[discussion] hierarchical styles

About the only thing I really like about Word's workflow is the ability to have hierarchical or "based-on" styles. In most ways I strongly prefer the way Framemaker works, but when I'm working on a complex and long document and I have to change the look of the thing (say, go to larger para...

Hey, very cool, all of them ... Quick background: I've used (extensively) the FrameMaker methodology and find it more than acceptable. If Mellel copied it, I would be happy as a clam (particularly how stable, flexible, and fast that system is). I've also used Word's methods, and they are OK for entr...
