Re: Exporting from Scrivener to Mellel
I haven’t tried anything fancy along these lines myself, but I suspect the best way to handle it would be RTF export and import, since Scrivener handles text as RTF internally. I assume the math you speak of consists of mathematical formulas turned out by MathType or some similar palette based equat...

Re: Grammar in Mellel
My understanding is that the spelling and grammar options chosen in System Preferences don't apply in Mellel since Mellel doesn't use Apple's text rendering system and provides its own spell checking internally. There's no built in grammar checking in Mellel at this time, but Mellel recently added s...

Re: Numeral Alignment to Period in Lists
Looks like you need what Mellel calls a reverse tab, placed on the ruler just to the right of where you want your periods to be. The reverse tab icon is the next to last one in the tab well at the left hand end of the toolbar. Drag that icon onto the ruler where you want the reverse tab to be, once ...

Re: Some lines are hidden
This bug has been reported and the Redlers are working on it. It can happen on small files as well as large ones, and selecting the affected paragraphs by dragging over them seems to bring back any missing text. The text isn't gone, it just fails to display properly.

Re: Mellel 5 and docx
Footnote export is working fine for many of us, and you don't describe any special features of your documents that might be responsible for the problem. You should report this to support and send the Redlers an affected document so they can look for bugs.

Re: F3 keyboard shortcut not working
Mellel comes with predefined character style variations but they can be redefined by the user one character style at a time, a power that can come in handy when working with unusual fonts and font combinations. You may have inadvertently redefined the C or F3 character style variation in some of you...

Re: How do Mellel users take notes?
When notes come in discrete well-defined chunks and are not directly tied to a particular piece of writing already under way, whether they’re very permanent (journal entries, contacts, memoranda) or very temporary (brainstorming), I like Tinderbox. But I don’t find it easy to compare the text of mul...

Re: changing order of style sets
The order in the Style Sets menu and the Edit style sets dialogue is always alphabetical by name. (There may be a brief delay before you see a renamed Style Set in its permanent alphabetical order position.) As far as I can tell, the only way to change the order is to change the name. As a general r...

Re: Mellel and Bookends on a MacOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6
I used older versions of Mellel and Bookends together regularly on 10.13.6 when it was new, and newer versions of both programs continue to support it. Bookends currently wants 10.10 or later, Mellel 10.7 or later. The two programs get along well together in my experience. You should be fine for the...

Re: Default opening
The video on fonts isn't a general introduction to the Mellel interface and could be a little misleading on this point. To get to the various dropdown menus relating to fonts you need to have the Character palette open with the Attributes tab selected. From the menus you get this with Window > Toggl...

MathType and Catalina
To judge from discussions in this forum, a good number of Mellel owners have relied on MathType to add equations and formulas to Mellel documents. A year or so back Wiris took over the development of MathType from Design Science. The other day Wiris wrote to owners of their newest version (like me) ...

Re: Can't send fax
I don't have your printer or a fully comparable one. But the dropdown menu in the Print dialog box (which shows "Mellel 4" until you press and hold) includes an option at the bottom, Printer Features. Pick it and it adds various printer specific options to the dialog box, options that otherwise rema...

It's how pdf export from Mellel has worked for many years.
