Re: Continuous list numbering?
Yes, it is possible. I asked a similar question here: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1684 . What you would want to do is make a "list" autotitle tag and have the autotitle formatted like the list level you want. The key is to make your "list" tag at the correct ...

Re: Automatically format nested quotes
How can the find set be constructed to deal with apostrophes, as opposed to single quote marks? An example of a hard case would be distinguishing 1) The professor said, “Martin Luther wrote his ‘95 Theses’ in 1517” from 2) The newspaper reported, “Today, the ‘96 Packers’ championship parade filled t...

Paragraph and character style separation
I have a question about how Mellel implements styles. I'm not sure why the character style options are separated from the paragraph styles. I expect that there is a good reason behind Redler's decision, and I hope that others can help me understand why these style elements are separated and how I ca...

Re: Automatically format nested quotes
Would it be possible to make a find set to do that kind of formatting? It would have to be run manually before creating the final draft, but that's no different than having to do a citation scan. I have no idea how to design a find set to correctly identify nested quote marks, but perhaps someone wh...

Automatically format nested quotes
While I love Mellel, I miss how LaTeX can handle nested quotes automatically, and I wonder if it would be possible to replicate this functionality in Mellel. In LaTeX, one can define a quote function so that, when the document is typeset, nested quotation marks are automatically adjusted. Thus, the ...

Mellel styles
I have read a number of posts where individuals remark on the superiority of Mellel's implementation of styles, especially vis-a-vis other word processors such as Word. I would like to hear from some of the style power-users what kinds of things they are able to do that they miss in other word proce...

Continuous numbering in subsections
Within autotitles, is it possible to have numbering for subsections NOT restart after each higher-level section? As an example, I would like to have:
A. First section
1. First subsection
2. Second subsection
B. Second section
3. Third subsection

Keyboard shortcut for editing citation
Is there a keyboard shortcut for editing a citation? I would like to be able to enter the "edit citation" dialogue box without having to double-click on the citation.

Most urgent: 1 (indexing), 27 (quicklook) Second choice: 7/8 (footnote/endnote handling), 11 (style variations) Third choice: 5 (including language options as part of style), 17 (starting chapter on an odd page/suppressing header at end)--I would also include with 17 having a different first page he...

Converting pasted italics into character style variation
I need to paste a subject bibliography generated by Bookends into Mellel. However, I also need to change the formatting of the pasted text. I can apply a paragraph style with no associated character style to change indenting, etc., but I can't figure out how to apply a character style without losing...

Re: Different header size for first page
Thanks - that technique seems to work great! Is there a way to make the table exactly .5"? I have improvised by setting the font within a one row table to 36pt and setting the padding to 0pt, but I know that not all fonts exactly match the 72pt=1" standard.

Different header size for first page
I have a question about configuring styles for a different header size for the first page. What I would like to do is have the first page of a section have no header and body text beginning 1" from the top of the page. On subsequent pages, I would like the header to be .5" below the top of...
