Re: lodging a complaint (Mellel too complicated!)
I have looked at four of the downloadable templates, but these are for the most part title pages. They also remind me of the proverb, "If you give a man a fish . . . if you teach a man to fish . . ." In other words, if I could be guided through the creation of my own template/full style se...

Re: lodging a complaint (Mellel too complicated!)
I agree that a tutorial on creating templates would be very useful. A comprehensive, detailed guide for creating a full style set I would find personally extemely useful. . . . or is a template and a full style set one and the same thing? Maybe the fact that I ask this question reveals the depth of ...

lodging a complaint (Mellel too complicated!)
While I have had Mellel for several years now, I only use it sporadically because, frankly, I am intimidated by how complicated it is. Recently I decided to turn to Mellel to write up a simple report. This was my first time attempting to include footnotes in a Mellel document. I was able to get my f...

Re: Advice on Making a Bilingual Booklet
Thank you to those who replied. For the record, fortunately I do NOT need right-to-left functionality. The second language uses a Cyrillic script, which I know Mellel has no problem handling. I am pretty sure that Pages CANNOT do what I am asking, or if it can, the solution is not obvious. Janet, Th...

Advice on Making a Bilingual Booklet
I need to make a bilingual booklet such that both sides of the page have the same content in their respective languages. I think I have the page formatting set up just fine (landscape view). I created two columns on each page – and this would otherwise work just great, but everything just gets pushe...

Re: query about strange icons and folders
Thank you, rpcameron!
I did according to your recommendation and now my Applications folder is a happier (and more normal?) place.

query about strange icons and folders
I have noticed some strange things about Mellel-related things in my Applications folder ever since downloading version 2.6. This was admittedly a long time ago, but I just now thought to ask about it. First of all, there is an icon simply labelled "Mellel" which consists of writing tools,...

Re: Good news from Apple!
Indeed it will be interesting to see, in light of this news, how an application such as Pages will handle Hebrew. In my opinion, if Pages is able to handle Hebrew decently it will be a near perfect word processor. Of course, it still wouldn't hold a candle to Mellel, but it would greatly enhance an ...

Mellel vs. Pages ('09)
I know somewhere in the forums there has already been a discussion of how Pages measures up to Mellel, but I just wanted to know if anything in that regard has changed with the newest version of Pages. Obviously I myself do not have Pages, otherwise I would check things out for myself. What I am mos...

Re: Updated Tutorial for Mellel 2.6 now available at Redlers'
Thank you, Mr. Broadribb. I availed myself of the previous two tutorials and found them extremely helpful. I liked the last one so much that I actually printed the whole thing out (in stages, of course)! Alas, it will now probably wind up in the recycle bin as this newest tutorial will likely warran...

Re: How do I set up Automator to compress my Mellel docs?
Dear verma, Thank you. You basically located for me the post I referred to in my original post! This time I have printed out your suggestion. However, I'm embarrassed to say it's still quite technical to me, so I'm still holding out hope that rpcameron will be able to "fill out" what your ...

Re: How do I set up Automator to compress my Mellel docs?
Thanks for your comment.
Actually, compressing my Mellel files has little to do with saving space (at least overtly): it's just the best way for me to get all of the file onto my iDisk.

Re: How do I set up Automator to compress my Mellel docs?
Dear rpcameron, I sincerely appreciate your offer to look into the matter about which I posted. If you are able to find out more information I will gladly try to apply your directions. However, please don't go through any trouble for my sake. Nonetheless I'm sure that any more information you can fi...

How do I set up Automator to compress my Mellel docs?
I realize this is more of a Mac question, but I'm only interested in it because of the way I save my Mellel docs. Sadly, I'm fairly sure that someone on this forum recently gave me advice about how to carry out this procedure, but I wanted to sort of re-post my request. Here is what I want specifica...
