Crashing at search in long text, memory leaking
Running Mellel 4.1.4v2 – wonderful, stable application. But since some days I get freezes / crashes when using the "find" functions in long documents. Only way to exit the freeze and continue work is force quit and restart. The auto backup saves most of the work, but some lines are lost so...

Re: The state of the Mellel (a road map of sorts)
now, should it be that I'm no longer part of the beta testers' program? Did anyone else receive beta 2.8 by now? any info which features are being included?redlers wrote:
Next week, I hope, we'll even go Beta with 2.8.

Re: Feature request: Footnotes that can have their own footnotes
I second the second-level footnote idea. In my case, working with end-of-page-notes and end-of text-notes in the same text (for different purposes), being able to refer from inside an end-of-page-note to an end-of text-note (for giving references etc.) would be a great progress.

Re: Snow Leopard Crashes and Problems
WOW rpcameron I just wanted to say THANK YOU you saved my day and much, much more! You're a wizard! Updated yesterday from Snow Leo 10.6.1 to 10.6.2 and nearly all my mellel files got corrupted in the weirdest ways. After an hour of desperation & desperate seeking for a solution I tried your ter...

Re: assign strings (words) to keys?
OK. I found the feature in preferences now. Even if it doesn't work with mellel, it's useful to know that it exists. Can come in handy one day.

Re: assign strings (words) to keys?
Thanks a lot, rpcameron and miles11. So it seems I've been led astray by years of using Word on a PC - I just supposed that this is a basic system feature. I've looked into the applications you proposed. I've installed a test version of typeIt4Me, and, right, it does the job! Now, would be interesti...

assign strings (words) to keys?
it is possible that I suffer from some kind of temporary conceptual block - but - is it possible to assign a string of characters to a single key (combination of keys), and how is that done? I need, say, to have a keystroke "alt-cmd-m", to produce the whole string, say, "mutual exclus...

Re: Making a table and its caption float
just want to second this - pictures usually do have captions, and they should float together.
I made the same point here some weeks ago: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2067
hope we'll get this in 2.8

Re: 2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
Yes, it would – I agree that having image captions included in the flow options would be a really great feature. Maybe the Redlers will even be able to achieve that in a later beta? We’ll wait and see. I wouldn’t mind to wait a few extra weeks if this would mean that we get captions included… ;) Ab...

Re: 2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
OK thanks for helping - seems I kind of overinterpreted the floating feature as it is by now - the floating images are already wonderful, hope to have boxes floating soon as well...verma wrote:Well indeed no - there's no float inside a table cell, or will the table cell float.

Re: 2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
If you want your text "glued" to your image, best option I guess is to make a table with colums (invisible lines) so both will move as one unit. You can have inline wrap inside a table as well. that's what I thought as well. Placed my image into a table with one cell, invisible borders. B...

Re: 2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
I just wrote to the developers and got placed on the beta testers list (already for the last release). Maybe the number of testers they need is limited? Don't have information about that.shades wrote:So, who gets a beta? I had asked the last time there was a beta and never got an answer.

Re: 2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
You can now drag around your Autotitles just about anywhere. (right of image, left of image, use tabs etc.) - is that of any help? I'm afraid, not really... what I need is attaching some text, say, a paragraph of 5-7 lines, to (under, beneath) one or several images, and manage them as ONE floating ...

2.7 beta: any way to make captions move?
first of all: floating images and text wrap are working like a charm. Thanks 1000 times, Redlers! Now maybe I just don't manage to figure it out: if I want my captions or any other bit of text to float around with the image (that's how we use images in writing usually, I suppose), how can I do this?...
