Text display problems
I'm having problems with text display around the page divider both in Mellel view and Compact view. Lines of text disappear, are duplicated, or are corrupted, mostly when being selected with a magic mouse. This is Mellel 5.0.3r1 on a 2020 iMac with Catalina 10.15.6. I also see it on a 2020 MacBook P...

Re: two windows one document
I think it would be a really useful facility. I use Ulysses for blog posts, and that now has a second editor. I've just finished off a lengthy book MS, and not being able to see other parts of the document easily while editing was probably the only thing that had me wishing I was doing it in Word—th...

I'll add my voice to this. It would make editing long documents so much easier.

Re: Quick index defaults to first index
Thanks. I couldn't get the shortcut to stick on my iMac but it works OK on a different machine.

Quick index defaults to first index
I have two indexes for a document. Using Quick Index, I select the text I want to index in the document, I select the second of the two indexes in the dialogue box, click Add Record, then Add Record & Mark to create the index entry and mark the text. Fine. But when I go to select the next item of te...

Disable spelling for some text
Is there a way to disable spell-checking for certain types of text in a document? I use a lot of transliterated text and it would be helpful to assign a "do not spell check" attribute to it (eg. by using a character style variation) in order to avoid unnecessary highlighting. I haven't been able to ...

Feature request: auto-title dialogue zoom
I noticed this request on an old thread : 3) A preference to have the text in the citation dialogue box in a certain typeface and size. The text in the dialogue is so small I can barely read it (it is in the 'actual' size and font of your text at 100% zoom, regardless of the zoom level that you are ...

Re: Copy and paste between different paragraph styles
I guess this is the best that can be done given the way Mellel works currently—I was hoping I'd missed something. But I would suggest that the structural differentiation between the underlying paragraph formatting and formatting applied secondarily to text in the paragraph would be useful. It would ...

Re: Copy and paste between different paragraph styles
Indeed, but as I said, pasting as plain text strips any character style variations, so then I have to go back and redo any italics in the pasted text.

Copy and paste between different paragraph styles
I generally have footnote text smaller than body text. If I copy and paste body text into a footnote, the size (and font) of the body text is retained. So I then have to reapply the footnote paragraph style to get the pasted text to match the size (and font) of the footnote. If I paste plain text, o...

Reverting autotitles to regular text
It's possible to format a regular paragraph as an autotitle by double clicking on the autotitle level in the palette (or via the Title dialogue box). I haven't found an easy way to reverse the process—to turn an autotitle back into regular text. Am I missing something?

Hide footnotes in compact view
I saw some discussion of this back in 2008 but nothing since. I think it would be a simple but very useful feature to be able to toggle view/hide the footnotes at the bottom of the page. They are visually distracting.

Re: Bug when moving content via outline view
I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed. The page break should be inseparable from the autotitle. I've also found that if a subheading is moved in the outline just above, eg., a chapter heading with a page break before it, it gets inserted between the page break and the chapter heading, rather than abo...

Re: What's next for Mellel 3.4?
A small thing. I would like to see an easier way of applying and removing autotitles. I would like to be able to place the cursor in a paragraph and simply click on the autotitle to apply it to the whole paragraph—at the moment either I have to use the dialogue box or "untitled" is inserted into the...
