Re: Quote Marks in Hebrew?
Andrew, Short answer: all good modern Hebrew fonts include both straight and curved or slanted quote marks. Straight marks may be more common, but curved/slanted left and right quote marks are also used. Upper/lower quotes are not generally used. Long answer: I don't know what the official solution ...

Re: All text in italics on Ipad version of document
I'd first check to make sure that all the fonts you use on your MACOS version of Mellel are available on the iPad.
Next, I'd check that the style sets were transferred over correctly.

Re: Hebrew word breaks at end of line character
This behavior isn't surprising. It arrives with its own paragraph style which probably has hyphenation turned off.
As I said, there is rarely a need to hyphenate Hebrew text.

Re: Hebrew word breaks at end of line character
Mark, if I understand you correctly, you are seeing hyphenation of single Hebrew characters even when you have the custom limits set to the defaults word length = 5 before hype = 2 after hyphen = 2 If that's the case, then what we have here is a bug, plain and simple. Send a bug report and sample do...

Re: Hebrew word breaks at end of line character
OK, Mark, several things First, just my opinion, unless you really need to cram a lot of text into a small space, hyphenation in Hebrew is unnecessary. I hardly ever see it used except in the newspaper. Now, to your specific issue 1. The problem shouldn't be associated with the kind of general style...

Re: Hebrew word breaks at end of line character
I've never seen such strange behavior with Hebrew. A little more information please: -- is this the only document with this behavior or do all your Hebrew documents have the problem? -- is this a Hebrew [left-ti-right] document or is the Hebrew embedded in English [right-to-left] text? -- what font(...

Re: Create placeholder for Hebrew vowels
Wow, what a strange keyboard! Alef on the shift?? I touch-type using the standard Israeli keyboard layout which is what Apple offers with "Hebrew" input. Like QWERTY, this layout was created by typewriter manufacturers way back when and is what is taught in the schools here. Getting back to Mark's o...

Re: Create placeholder for Hebrew vowels
Darryl,
My experience is that this sometimes works with Ezra, but never with SBL
Could you explain how you defined the space-holder character.

Re: Create placeholder for Hebrew vowels
Sorry, sorry, there's a step I forgot to explain: When you select the dotted circle from the Character Viewer window, you can't simply chose the "parve" 25CC glyph. You have to select the correct Font Variation for the font you are using -- for Ezra, the Ezra variation; for SBL Hebrew, the SBL varia...

Re: Create placeholder for Hebrew vowels
Mark, I sent a reply earlier today explaining what you just said -- for some reason it didn't get through to the forum. Short answer: the solution depends on the font you are using, not the keyboard. With much difficulty, I was able to force Ezra SIL to place vowels correctly under a the dotted circ...

Re: Page margins incorrect in print
When I click on paper size A4, I get a list of all the options and to the right of each is an arrow. Click on the arrow and the choices are A4 [default] and A4 borderless. Perhaps this is a function of the printer you are using. I have an HP Officejet 6950. I seemed to remember seeing the A4 borderl...

Re: Page margins incorrect in print
Chris, I doubt if this is the answer, but just in case check out File/Page setup/Paper Size.
There are two definitions to "A4," regular A4 and borderless.
I you using the correct one for your work?

Surprise -- Right-to-Left booklets
Friends, We all get used to working a certain way with a specific subset of an applications options. I try to break this habit by regularly "walking-through" windows and settings I don't ordinarily touch. Yesterday I had a very pleasant surprise: in Print/Layout/two-sided=booklet, select the second-...

Re: Page smaller than it should when printed
Curiouser and curiouser The only two places left where Mellel changes the look of printed out are in -- File/Page Setup [make sure you have 100% selected] and -- the Print/Mellel 4/Layout, but I don't know what you could do there to create the affect you describe. Maybe try adding an annotation, del...

Re: Page smaller than it should when printed
MonE, one thing that might cause this is annotations (comments)
-- if you select Export annotations [lower left of the Export to pdf window], and
-- if you have used annotations with this document but none currently appear on this page
then you will get exactly what you describe.
