Re: Bug in 4.1 - underlining / stroke through with certain fonts

By the way, JBQ, I think you will find that 2017 is when the font file was stored on your system, but, if you check the info page for Hoefler Text in FontBook, you will see that the font was last updated in 2007.

Re: Bug in 4.1 - underlining / stroke through with certain fonts

JBQ, I can't repeat your problem with Arial or Times or any of the fonts I generally use,
but I definitely see it with Hoefler text.

Maybe this is an old version of the font that needs upgrading. The version I have is from 2007.

Re: Numbering of (total) pages per page format / section

heartsore, what you are looking for is a page variable that gives to total pages in a section and not the total pages in a document. This doesn't exist, but I do have two workarounds for you 1. The obvious: do this manually. The number of pages of your "formal stuff" is not likely to change often, s...

Re: Table cells size

I've never actually felt the need to control the size of the cells per se -- I just let the character/paragraph attributes take control. On occasion I've used cell padding as well. Frankly, I can't think of a usage that would require a specific cell size. Text does are another story -- they can be t...

Re: Table cells size

Hi all, I don't find where I can define the size of the cells of a table (in cm or other measure) in the Table palette. Thanks in advance for the answers. Robin You are correct, Robin, but there're two (somewhat messy) work-arounds 1. set the cel size manually using the rulers as a guide 2. use the...

Re: Note Symbol superscript issue

JWH, I don't use footnotes, but I just played around with them and may have an answer to your first problem: In Edit Styles/Note when I select Superscript under Note Symbol, as you said, the save button remains grayed out. But If I click on something else (for example, the format), the save button c...

Re: Switching to Greek and Hebrew

Maybe this is a Sierra/High Sierra thing -- Mellel 4 should work the same with both, but .....

I never user function keys.
Explain to be how you set them up and I'll try to run a test.

Re: Switching to Greek and Hebrew

Shades, running Mellel4.0.3b6 with Mac OS 13.2 I haven't managed to duplical your problem. I don't have Libertine fonts, but I switch between languages in Mellel easily using any number of fonts and the keyboard shortcut cmd-space. So, I suspect the problem is in defining the function keys. How did ...

Re: Mellel font size

Hi Raymond and everyone, There is another partially related issue with font size and English/Hebrew texts. Because Hebrew fonts have to leave room for upper and lower vowel marks, the remaining space for the actual letters often looks small when placed on the same text line with English letters. Whe...

Wish list for sections

Friends, With Mellel 4 now firmly in place, I'd like to revisit the requests many of us have posted in the past for improvements to Sections 1. non-symmetric sections: the ability to set the width of each section independently 2. independent text flow: the text in each column flows vertically into t...

Re: Thank you for "Background (on screen)"

As I said, I'm just starting to paly with this, but so for the combinations I like are -- pale green: 225/255/235 -- light lavender: 225/220/255 -- pale yellow/orange: 255/240/210 Janet P.S. I also use background colors on my major Finder folders. That way I know which ones are open at a glance. [wi...

Interesting

I also work late at night and will give this a try.

In it's "Night Shift" option, Apple suggest that warmer colors are better at night, so I'm trying out a pale yellow-blue

Help using tracking changes

Friends, I don't like tracking changes. The documents I create tend more toward advertising copy than straight text: the layout of the page is often as important as the contents. Correcting/updating the page via tracking changes makes it very difficult to understand how the change will affect the la...

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

That's fair: you want Mellel to do somethingexceptioknal that other apps don't do.

I just think you should make that clear, that's all.

Re: Stop Creating New Documents. Please...

OK I get where you guys are coming from and I agree that applications should offer users the maximum options possible to support their specific needs. The option to do nothing is certainly a valid option. My question is: do you know a single application that works this way? I can't think of one. Janet
