Hmm… This sounds interesting. Could you elaborate on how LaTeX handles such cases? Thank you.nicka wrote:I'm not sure that the correct way to work around this would be for the Redlers to change the behaviour of line breaks. Better to have a bit of the LaTeX sort of intelligence for grouped paragraphs.

Re: sentence last sentence in a paragraph.
Macula, I think you may not have understood what DylanMuir was saying. The point is that this only happens if there is the wrong kind of break at the end of the paragraph. Use a normal paragraph break (which you get by pressing return) and the 'problem' goes away. I understand this, Nicka. However,...

Re: sentence last sentence in a paragraph.
I agree that this is an absolutely necessary feature and long overdue. Why on earth should a justified paragraph be expected to have a sparse last line? What sort of aesthetics dictate this absurd behavior (which is not unique to Mellel, unfortunately)?

Re: spelling and grammar checker
Personally, I'd like to see one of the developers respond to this thread and explain 1) why the "Automatic By Language" feature of Snow Leopard doesn't work, 2) what would be involved in fixing Mellel to use it, and 3) what Redlers' plans are to do so. +1 I am confident that the Redlers, ...

Re: spelling and grammar checker
I concur in the need to dramatically improve spelling checking in Mellel. In its current form it does not live up to expectations: It fails to identify the language automatically and it misidentifies words as misspelled. In the humanities, where language switching within a single paper is the norm, ...

Cross reference to numbered list
Is there a way to bookmark an item within a numbered list and then cross-reference the number under which the bookmarked item appears? For example: HIGHEST SELLING CROPS 1. Fruit 1.1 Apple 1.2 Orange[BOOKMARK!] 1.3 Pear 2. Vegetable 1.1 Lettuce 1.2 Broccoli "As you can see under item [CROSS-REF...

Re: Header collapses when edited
I really hope it is changed soon because, classified as a 'bug' or not, this feels and behaves as "broken." My dissertation specifications explicitly require the page number to be located exactly 2 cm from the bottom of the page. It is virtually impossible to achieve this because as soon a...

Tight deadline! Please help with RTF export problems.
I am having a hard time staying calm. Mellel is supposed to be able to export its native documents to the RTF format. I failed to notice any fine print in this proclamation, and I am very disappointed to see that such fine print is due. Case in point: Please take a look at the attached Mellel file (...

How do I include to TOC in my dissertation template?
I just realized that, even if one decides to build separate tables of content for chapters, tables, figures, etc., Mellel merges all those lists into a long, aggregate one: List of chapters, immediately followed by the list of tables, the list of figures, the list of examples, etc. Of course, my dis...

Re: Auto-Correct Spelling Mistakes
That's a pity. I hope there is an engineering tradeoff involved here, and that the benefits of Mellel bypassing the Apple APIs counterbalance the loss spelling/substitutions/dictonary functionality.

Bug report: Paragraph styles and TOC
As far as I can tell (but please do try to confirm), there is a little bug in the "edit title flows" sheet. In trying to apply a paragraph style for the TOC (under the "TOC format" tab), the start margin on the ruler needs to be adjusted manually, overriding the setting in the pa...

Bug when moving content via outline view
My highest-level title flow (autotitle) is set to insert a page break before the title itself, so that it displays each new chapter title on a new page. Now, in outline view, there is a bug presents itself when moving content around (not simply demoting/promoting content via the arrow buttons on the...
