Re: Getting rid of residual citation markers

That's a much appreciated suggestion, thank you. I have so much Mellel specific content in my document that I doubt that it would all survive the process of exporting and re-importing. It is of course possible to delete the affected areas individually and re-insert the text manually, which is what I...

Re: Getting rid of residual citation markers

Many thanks for trying to reproduce this issue, Icelander. It's good to know that it's not specific to me or my set-up. If I search for citations now, it turns up no results (neither the residual citation markers nor the new validated citations I have inserted recently are picked up). Thanks for the...

Re: Getting rid of residual citation markers

Thanks for the helpful response! Perhaps because I have the Mellel store bought version rather than the App Store one, "Browse All Versions" doesn't show up as an option for me under "Revert," so I wasn't able to get back to an earlier version. I tried the suggestion regarding copying character attr...

Getting rid of residual citation markers

Due to the issue with Mellel 4.01 and Bookends, all of the citations in my project were corrupted. I did a global search and replace to blank out all my citations so that I could start over from scratch. Having done so, I notice a small irregularity: where the citations were before, the surrounding ...

Re: Where to compose--Scrivener or Mellel--for dissertation

I think that composing directly in Mellel (with Bookends) is the best choice for academic writing. I am also working on a dissertation and used Scrivener and Ulysses before switching to Mellel. Scrivener and Ulysses are also wonderful tools, but I think Mellel has the edge for academics. My reasons ...

Re: Bookends does not scan documents anymore ?!?

I have also run into issues with Bookends integration with the latest build of Mellel / High Sierra. It might be a good idea to wait for the Mellel team to come up with a fix before doing any more work with bibliographies. At the least, having a good backup in place before scanning / unscanning any ...

Re: Feature request: Antidote integration

I have a similar interest in using ProWritingAid, a grammar and style checker for writing in English, with Mellel. In the case of ProWritingAid, it works as a plugin with Word for Windows but not with Word for MacOS (there is a stand-alone desktop app for MacOS which can open Word and other file typ...

Re: Issues with formatting of citations after scanning with Bookends

Thank you Icelander and Avner for these pointers. I studied the resources available regarding mapping styles in citations and bibliographies, and now have a much better understanding of how this works. Strangely enough, the issue with those particular citations was not fully resolved by toggling the...

Re: The new index feature in Mellel 4

Another question relating to the new index feature: is there any way of interacting with the index markers in the iPad version of Mellel?

Issues with formatting of citations after scanning with Bookends

After scanning my Mellel document with Bookends, I am finding that the citations in one section of the document appear in a Character Style different to the paragraph around them (specifically, Courier Regular 12 (Base) as opposed to Body (Base) style I am using as default). Applying the default par...

Re: Syncing between Mellel 4 and Mellel for iPad

Thank you for clarifying the situation with regard to iCloud syncing. I've set up a new folder as you suggested, and so far my work has been synced back and forth seamlessly.

Feature request: integration with 3rd party grammar checkers

The grammar and spelling checker ProWritingAid has a plug-in for MS Word for Windows that allows it to be used without ever leaving the document you're working on. I don't know if Mellel has any capacity to support plug-ins, but this would be something really amazing to see in the future. There is a...

Syncing between Mellel 4 and Mellel for iPad

I understand that the version of Mellel purchased directly from the Mellel store works slightly differently to the MAS version with respect to syncing over iCloud, meaning that this is not a great solution for those of us syncing between the desktop and iPad versions of Mellel. I also understand tha...
