Not at the moment, the spec wasn't built to accommodate users creating an index on their iPad.

For the time being the only export options on the iPad are .mellel documents and PDFs.

The index in the Mellel document is not a dynamic element - this is what makes it so light. While David had suggested a possible workaround, I must say that trying to solve this problem must begin before it is created - I realize it might not help with the current document but the wise thing to do is to assign Auto-titles before you are creating 100 of them... the whole idea behind Mellel ...
