I'd rather have Mellel act as it does now, but implement a versioning mechanism -- which could be as simple as just setting back the clock to a previous [saved] version. I hope Time Machine would allow the developers to implement such feature with relative ease. If versioning is out of the question,...

The first thing that occurred to me when I read about linkback some time ago is that it could be a great way to have "live" bibliographic support. Would it actually work?

Has anybody been able to set up a folder action to email this directly to the google account? I tried this some time ago and it didn't work out, it not only attaches the document to the email, but also the metadata stored in the .DS_whatever file . I'm not good at apple script I guess...

I absolutely agree that the current behavior is awful. A menu seems the more natural solution to me, as I tend to see palettes as altering the styling/contents of text; but in any case I'm strongly against the show pop up as it is implemented now.

However, when you refer to styled RTF, what exactly do you mean? I meant preserving style names. RTF exporting is actually quite good format-wise, but the style is lost. it then opens up the debate of whether versioning should be part of the word processor, or some separate program ;). I think Mell...

What strikes me from these discussions is that most users seem to have the need to do all the design in house. It'd be nice to know how different people use Mellel for other purposes, such as preparing a manuscript for a publishing house. In my field, we're strongly encouraged to keep formatting and...

Paste & Apply Find Set

When I paste formatted content in Mellel, I would like to automatically translate italics into the character style variation I use for emphasis. This can be implemented through a paste function that pipelines the clipboard into a Find Set. Of course, the applicability exceeds translating italics int...

It appears that Time Machine uses diffs, much the same way that CVS/SVN handle changes. Bundles would be handled as directories, since that's all they are. It would be great if it uses diff's (or a filesystem snapshoting ability); but that's not what I had read when leopard was previewed. Anyway, i...

Oh yes and I think it could be wise to wait how the Time machine API looks in Leopard? It sounds like it could bring an easy way to implement the versioning, it would be done the “system way” and have a cool interface on top of it. In theory it makes sense. (I guess the specifications are already p...

The real need, to me, is to have at least some basic form of a revisioning/versioning system. The XML and package format should be a lot of help to this. That is, the package should help making the whole revisions look like one file. There's no need to duplicate the graphics. The current XML documen...

Frames as a subclass of notes? I'm not quite certain I understand this. How do propose this works? I meant the other way. Notes as a subclass of frames. Frames have property location (absolute or relative to page and to other frames) and perhaps other (border, filling, wrapping). Then notes have a ...

Another way to do it, I suppose, is to use a note stream for your table numbering, and put the table in a footnote. It'd mean some creative style working for the table note stream, but I don't think it'd be that difficult ... Mellel's note streams are quite flexible and powerful, and I don't think ...

I endorse this petition! Just to dream a little bit... It would also be nice to be able to make the frame appear at the end of the document and add a marker in its original place ("<PLACE TABLE X HERE>"). Ideally that option would be coded in a frame style so that we can easily alter the placement o...

1) some of what is requested here could be accomplished by having a preference in Mellel that generates a separate pdf (or rtf) automatically every time the Mellel file is saved. 2) for me the priority for Mellel's pdf support is automatic generation of clickable hyperlinks for the table of content...
