Re: Limiting line length & word count configuration

I need to limit the number of characters (including spaces) of each line to 29. How do I do it? How can I see what column each letter is being written in? This is very straightforward in Word. Can Mellel do that also? There is no option in Mellel that allows you to limit a line ot 29 characters, bu...

Re: Wishlist for version 2.6

I have been away, and look what happens... A late vote: I hope the “poll” isn’t closed jet: 1. Most urgent: 15. Improved image handling (text float around images) 5. Improved language options: spellchecking, hyphenation and quotes as part of a language style 9. Better column handling: variable widt...

Re: copy and paste between Mellel docs loses formatting

Copy and pasting different font variations between two Mellel docs works fine on my computer. Both methods (F-keys and CMD+B I U) work without a problem. Could you try this on a newly created document and with another font? I guess it’s either a problem with your style set or with your font or font ...

Re: Cross references tutorial

You could take a look at the “Tutorials & Tips” section of the Redler’s website: http://www.redlers.com/supporttutorials.html There you’ll find (after scrolling down a bit) Don Broadribb’s “Tutorial for Beginners” which covers Cross References among some other themes. I haven’t read that chapter so ...

Re: Expanding palettes?

As I have tested a few minutes ago, there is a chance to hack the palette size if you like to do so. If you have Apple’s Developer Tools installed (should be available on your Mac OS X install DVD), you are able to edit the necessary .nib-file inside the Mellel application (Mellel > Resources > Your...

Re: Expanding palettes?

This is actually a shortcomming in Mellel’s interface and there’s no official way to resize those palettes. However, you could access your most needed styles via shortcuts you can assign to the character and paragraph styles.

Re: inserting lower case accents via the menu

Maybe only the most common accents were included in this menu, but you can access every character via the “Edit > Special Characters…” character palette.

Re: Mellel vs. Pages...who wins?

This, my friend, is not an answer. First off, if you don't want to participate in this "futile" discussion, then don't post. As Tom only liked to offer a currently available solution to your problems, there is no need to tell him not to post. Second remark, why in the world do i have to buy a zilli...

Re: How long can auto title be?

Currently there’s no way to get around this as there is a limit (don’t know the numbers of characters exactly) regarding the length of Auto-Titles in Mellel. It would anyway be better to use short Auto-Titles and to put your additional text into a separate paragraph (and reference to the picture via...

Re: no undo?

WOW. I was always frustrated that sometimes undo works and sometimes it doesn't... I had no idea that the problem was connected to the fact that I save every 2 seconds. This is a MAJOR bug for such a professional program and it really needs to be a high priority fix for 2.5.1. I would say it should...

Re: Some newbie questions

Is there a way I could get an english version instead of a French one ? I read English and I have the Mellel guide, and using it with a French version is difficult. That’s possible: 1. Close Mellel 2. Locate the Mellel application inside your Applications folder (or wherever you’ve copied it) 3. Ri...

Re: Style problems

Sorry, I’ve missed your mention of “Paragraph Style” somehow. I also should have taken a look at the Mellel manual as writing in Hebrew is explained here. You’ll also find the hint, that Mellel’s Paragraph settings are bi-directional which means, that the writing direction isn’t saved inside the Par...

Re: Where are my section breaks?

The options you set up in the Preferences are only valid for newly created documents. If you like to change the viewing options for your current document, you should use the “View” drop down menu at the bottom left of the main Mellel window (at the status bar). Here, you should find a “section break...

Re: Style problems

I’m not used to Hebrew writing, but maybe you’ve only applied one style. Mellel has a lot of different styles that serves different needs. In a normal text, you could apply a page style (which holds the settings in the “Page” palette, a Section Style (which applies things like columns) and a Paragra...
