Re: Spotlight

It should work if you do as I did. Delete the old plugin, install the new one and then open each of your old files and just save each in turn. You should have spotlight doing full content searching then. Good luck. Spotlight appears to be partially working after I deleted the old plugin and reinsta...

Why not just use Style Variants?

Perhaps I'm missing the point, but it seems to me that sweeping a selection and clicking F6 or whatever is pretty simple. For me, that would turn all the text to red. Is a separate highlighting feature really needed?

Oh Well. I'm relieved, even if unhappy

Nicka Thanks for the response. At least I am relieved at not being proven once again to have the brain of an ant. I had banged my head pretty hard on this one, assuming there was a solution (other than the kluge that apparently you use as well). As for solutions, I would think that having more than ...

Outline/Table of Contents

I would like to treat appendices in parallel with Chapters EXCEPT for having them numbered A, B, ..., rather than 1, 2,...How to do this eludes me. The "slot" for chapters is Mellel's Level 2. However, that has a unique paragrapha and character definition, and a unique numbering approach. The only t...

Comments on Tutorial

Don Here are some comments, mostly about typos, some about clarity. I've also noted in bold instances in which I think Mellel should be changed . The tutorial is quite useful and well written. A noble effort! 22 The "start" versus "indent" distinction is indeed unclear. There should be a single pict...

Re: Beginners Tutorial for Mellel 2.1

A completely rewritten Beginners Tutorial for Mellel 2.1 has been completed, and should shortly be available for download from the Redlers site, both in pdf and in Mellel form. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or comments on the new tutorial for 2.1. Although I proofread it several times,...

Limitations of Import/Export

I find that I still can't explain to a colleague what dangers lurk or don't lurk in moving to Mellel. Compatibility with Word seems remarkably good (going through the rtf stage); I'm impressed. However, I'm not clear as to its limitations and am reticent to make statements on the matter to colleague...

Re: Paradigms

All things considered, I would put by far the biggest weight on having a simple-but-excellent mode, based probably on a richer set of custom templates and some tweaking of the interface for consistency. Sorry for touching upon this last point in an off-topicish manner -- can you elaborate a little ...

Paradigms

The discussion on highlighting raised basic questions about what attributes are desirable as Mellel goes forward. One paradigm is for a superb but seemingly light word processor, something like a modern-day version of Word 5.1, for those who remember it. "Modern-day" would include the very nice outl...

Well, I seem to have found a "solution," but it's a hack. The problem is that the equation number wants to be on a lower line because, if it's inserted to the right of the equation with autottile, it starts a new paragraph (unless there is a way to avoid that). To get the number to appear where it s...

Equation numbers on the right?

How do I automatically label equations on the right? As below:

E=MC^2 Eq. (1)

I can make an autotitle for equations, and I have been able to get it to work on the left, but in my denseness I have not been able to do it as above.
