table - centering text in merged cell

This is probably easy, but it wasn't clear to me, and I tried looking it up in the manual. I have a table with a merged cell, but don't know how to center the text. Edit: I should clarify - if I hit the center text button in the toolbar, the left margin of the text will be in the center (in this exa...

Thanks, I don't recall ever changing any of note attributes so I didn't think to look there.

no keyboard shortcut for footnotes

I'm not sure what happened, but somehow my template no longer has a keyboard shortcut for footnotes. In my previously created documents, the shortcut is still there. Any idea what's going on there, or how I might fix it?

request: style names in text for "replace styles"

Something equivalent to Word's "style area" would make using Replace Styles much easier. (In Word, go to Prefs and set "style area width" to nonzero, at least in v. X). It shows the style name in the margin next to each paragraph. Or something similar, there must be a better way than trying to figur...

keyboard shortcuts working for auto-titles?

Revisiting an issue brought up before but not resolved to my knowledge, has anyone been able to get keyboard shortcuts (via System Prefs) to work for auto-titles in the latest versions of Mellel? Edit: BTW, I'm moving too quickly up the ranks! According to that, I've "got the auto-title mojo working...

Somewhat off-topic:

Not that this forum is really that crowded, but since there's only one category, how about making a separate one for feature requests? Although I suppose most people here know what's been requested already.

learning spelling in rest of document?

I right-clicked a word and chose "learn spelling." The rest of the instances in the document remained highlighted even if I checked the whole document for spelling. Is that intended? When I right-clicked on another instance of the word, without doing anything else, then it was no longer highlighted.

Re: default auto-title setup

Check the template, I'd say. Are you using the same template you set your auto-title setup in for? If I'm right, using a different template will void the default setting in Preferences (you've got to select your flow again in the Edit autotitle flow thingummybob). Don't have Mellel on this laptop -...

It would have to be saved to show up in the drop-down list in Preferences (and in the auto-title edit screen), wouldn't it?

default auto-title setup

I have my customized auto-title setup as my default in prefs, but it is not being selected in a new document. What might I be doing wrong? And it was noted in another thread, but is there a bug in setting keyboard shortcuts to auto-titles? It worked for me in a previous version, but now even though ...

The command-b or command-i are typically superficial or temporal commands: they remain untill you change the paragraph syle, for example. Changing a paragraph style, unfortunately, does occur - in those cases you lose the "face"-setting of the character. That can be quite annoying... With the F-key...

I still don't understand the advantage of having the F-keys for bold and italics that remain with style changes, instead of having the command keys do so.

For instance, let's say you want to make an outline. This is interesting. I thought the Outline was a way to see the document structure _after_ you create it. I use the outline to check the overall document structure, to keep the title names consistent and sometimes to jump around in the document. ...
