Re: Extremely annoying bugs/shortcomings

I think maybe I was using Courier. But as I said above, the behavoir was that I could click on the options to change to italics, yet command-I wasn't working. Sounds strange but given it was courier and assumed you haven't installed a different version than the one delivered with OS X, it is a know...

Re: Extremely annoying bugs/shortcomings

1) In all your talking about keybindings and whatever else, I couldn't find any information about what I'm actually trying to do, which is: use the keyboard to move down from the cell I'm editing to the cell directly below it. As rpcameron already mentioned, this isn’t possible in Mellel at the mom...

Re: Auto-title does not save

Sounds strange. Have you associated your format to the auto-title elements and saved the used Auto-Title settings in the “Edit Title-Flows” (the pen button in the Auto-Title palette)? Do you use the very same Auto-Title setting with another document and edit (and save different settings) inside the ...

Re: Variable Typographer Quotes

By the way, I have voted with „no“ because I still believe that a language thing (like typographer’s quotes, spell-checker and hyphenation) shouldn’t be put into the paragraph setting but a level below (like suavito i think a word level is the right thing). If the quotation marks will be part of the...

Re: Variable Typographer Quotes

This idea was part of a heavily discussed language style: http://forum.redlers.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=790&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=language+style&start=15 Such a thing would not only allow a true multi-lingual spell check and hyphenation but also cover the need for different typographer’s quotes but ti...

Re: Bug in the header

Hello. To speed things up (for me) I answer this topic in German. Nochmals Hallo.

Re: Cornell Style Alley

This is not possible with the current version of Mellel as it doesn’t support independent (or not equally sized) columns. But as this is a highly requested feature (often called marginalia) maybe you’ll see it in a future version of Mellel.

Re: Table cell extend across page break

As Mellel’s column feature doesn’t work very well for this kind of use, you’re left to use tables for your translation work. The limitation of tables are, that one table cell can not exceed one page. As you could not workaround this limitation, you should not try to copy a huge amount of arabic text...

Re: header and page number

You need to tweak some settings to achieve the desired result. First, you should change your autotitle-setup (Gliederungsfluss bearbeiten). Instead of the huge collection of space characters (Leerzeichen) you could simply take a TAB (Tabulator) element: <Aktuelle#> <. > <Titel> <Tab> <Seite> http://...

Re: Wishlist 2008

It seems that 10.5 adds support for glyph variants (as Petrus has shown). So this feature is available in Mellel if you have 10.5 but as it is not built directly into Mellel, you could not access it in 10.4 or 10.3. While this is good news for all who work with 10.5, i still like to see the support ...

Re: Wishlist 2008

I haven’t tested ornaments much and as far as I remember, I was able to insert some characters via the character palette in older versions of Mellel too that were not available via the OpenType options. What I’ve written about were Glyph variants that could hold some more glyphs/characters/ornaments...

Re: Wishlist 2008

I’d enthusiastically second transalpin’s suggestions, especially those calling for OpenType (large and) small caps and superscripts. Mixing large and small caps in a head or subhead in the manner good text fonts are designed to afford shouldn’t become more difficult when the font is in OpenType for...

Re: Images are blurry.... what to do?

Just three questions: 1. Which Mac and OS X version do you use? As far as I know, there had been some problem with the Intel graphics driver (for integrated graphics cards on MacBooks, education iMacs and Mac Minis) that sometimes lead to a blurred image (in iTunes for example). 2. Do those graphics...

Re: Images

You could adjust the space between your text and the following image in several ways. For example, you could select your text or your image (remember that Mellel treats images like text) and adjust the line height of either one or both. To do this, select the text, open the “Alignment & Spacing” pal...
