Re: Images
You could adjust the space between your text and the following image in several ways. For example, you could select your text or your image (remember that Mellel treats images like text) and adjust the line height of either one or both. To do this, select the text, open the “Alignment & Spacing”...

Re: Book manuscript: Single File or Separate for Chapters?
Edit: just checked, the new manual talks about "auto-title" and the German one about "Gliederung…" I’ve checked the most recent manuals included with the latest version of Mellel and downloaded those just a moment ago. The German manual talks about “Nummerierung” in the “Dymamis...

Re: Book manuscript: Single File or Separate for Chapters?
I'm unable to find the way to add > Nummerierung > Bearbeiten nor can I find the "Nummerierungspalette". For shure it is my mistake I cannot find the way. Hi, it’s not your mistake but it seems as if the mention chapter of both, the Engish and the German manual are outdated and use the ol...

Re: Graphics questions
Answer no. 2: Mellel does not support flowing images right now, There is a somewhat awkward, but doable workaround using tables Thanks for posting this over and over again but it remains true that Mellel doesn’t support text “flow” around images. The procedure you describe is how to mimic the optic...

Re: Graphics questions
Answer to question no. 1: No, it is currently not possible to reference auto-titles or anything else. The Redlers are working on cross-references at the very moment and the above should be possible with the upcoming Mellel 2.5 but as even the beta-test was delayed for over a week, nobody knows when ...

Re: Auto-title within table
If you put your images in a two column section, you could add a auto-title element below each image. It will look the same (compared to tables) but at least, two auto-titles are possible next to each other. Like singingstranger already said, it’s a process of trial & error but if you really need...

Hi Pauline,
it would be nice, if you could post the trick that resolved your problem (reinstalling Mellel or cleaning caches) so other people with the same problem could benefit from that information.

Re: Keeping pagination and footnote numbering separate?
You could insert a section break and then adjust the “start at” page number of the next section via the “Page” palette. The drawback of this method is, that you have to check those adjusted numbers before printing or exporting your document if they are still correct.
Re: main.xml
One thing I forgot… do you have installed (copied) Mellel into your Applications folder (where all the other applications reside)? Sometimes Mac OS X won’t be able to associate documents with their proper applications if the application (Mellel) lays outside the Applications folder (e.g. on your des...
Re: main.xml
The problem seems to be with your Mac and not with Mellel, so a reinstall probably wouldn’t solve your problem. Mac OS maintains a small file called the “launch database” that contains the information of which application are able to open which documents. That file seems to be corrupt on your Mac so...
Re: main.xml
If you save a Mellel document (let’s say you’ve named the document: “test”) on your desktop, a new file with a Mellel icon named “test.mellel” should appear. Those Mellel documents are in reality folders and I guess all you see on your desktop is a test.mellel folder instead of the document. Inside ...

Re: Diacritical marks in various programs
Aside from a simple font problem, it could also be a text encoding problem, so it would be helpful to know how you’ve transferred your text documents from linux to the mac. In which file format are the documents saved (RTF, TXT, DOC…)?

Re: Unintended Page Breaks
I have not seen any unintended page break in all the years I’ve used Mellel and as far as I remember this topic is the first one about this problem. Could you post an example document so I could take a look at it?

Re: Tool bar hidden
Hi,
the weird position of the palettes could have been caused by using different monitor setups or a different resolution on your single display. To reset the position of the palettes to a more usable one, simply select from the menu-bar: Window > Reset Palette Positions. That should do the trick.

Re: Install Mellel for all users?
Ori Redler posted some words some time ago about how the Mellel license works. He wrote, that the license works like a Book. You could read it, lend it to another user, take it with you to all the places you like to read it but typically, but typically a book could only be read by one person at the ...
