I think it has been asked before, but there was no reply.
And yes, it would be nice to be able to launch directly on your favourite kind of page and be spared two unnecessary stages.

Re: Mellel 4 - saving documents
I cannot reproduce this error. Mellel 4 seems to save at the first attempt.

Re: help with small problems
Yes, thank you. I completely ignored the right (ctrl) click option. Then I only have to remove the underline.
As for the Find&Replace of 'return' I was looking in the wrong place. Thank you very much.

help with small problems
I have just finished a manuscript submitted for web-publication - something I often do and I always use Mellel > pdf. Most of what I get is of course in docx nowadays, and I had hoped that Mellel 4 would permit direct import, but no, I still have to pass through Nisus or Open Office or the like to t...

Re: Future with Dropbox
Perhaps I misunderstand you. I have plenty of Mellel files in my Dropbox which are accessible on several other computers. If you mean something other than this, I am curious.

Re: Export to word .doc format does not handle in-line image
Perhaps you should try the method that has recently been described (Toward a sneaky way of exporting ...) where you pass through pdf. It plays rough with your typefaces, but is reasonably good with images.

Re: Help using tracking changes
1) When you turn on 'changes' there are two little windows under the ruler. The one on the left permits you to choose how you want to see your document, final, original &c 2) just change the option in said window 3) you click again on 'changes' and you will be told that you must accept all chang...

Re: Toward a Sneaky Way To Export Better to Word
Everyone has different problems. I have always - and I often need it - used export to rtf and then import into whatever program does docx, and it works reasonably well for the sort of thing I do: formatting important, lots of ancient Greek, no endnotes but many footnotes. I tried converting both wit...
Re: Mellel 4
I've been using Melle for many years. It's so much better than Word, but I have to submit my research using Word with footnotes at page bottom. To get there from Mellel is difficult at best; I almost have to completely redo the footnotes. Looking forward to a direct export to .docx and the new 4.0....

Re: Mellel or Pages
Your procedure is not unlike mine, except for Pages. Why do you use that? Mellel will serve as well for letters. I also use NisusPro for opening doc and docx and transfer them into rtf to import into Mellel. I changed to Sierra recently and after some initial hickups with NisusPro it now works as we...

Re: The Line Above the Footnotes
It is called a separator. You can do anything you like with it by going to "insert" > note > edit note attributes. There you have options to set its length, thickness (in points), and type of line.

Re: defaults
Yes, I know - we have been there before, both of us. But it does not solve the problem.
As for the real subject of my post, the unfortunate defaults: does anyone else have the same experience? And what are chances (Oh, Redlers!) of doing something about all this?
