Re: footnotes in files exported to rtf
These default files, called Factory Templates, all have a factory setting set to 'Restart every page.' I'm not sure, but perhaps one of these files is used by Mellel as an import template . A while ago we asked Eyal for conformation. He is obviously not going to answer, so I went on, alone… Yes, I ...

How do Mellel users take notes?
How do Mellel users take notes? And how do they keep track of their notes? We all know, Bookends is rather inconvenient when it comes to taking notes (using the so called 'note streams'.) DEVONthink 3 (the successor of DEVONthink Pro Office) is not really compatible with Mellel, and Mellel itself ha...

Re: footnotes in files exported to rtf
What I don't get is why Mellel seems to default to restart every page numbering when it imports an rtf, even one it created. If I'm right about an import template controlling the footnote position, then we could try to change that template. If we execute the File > New menu command, an "Open T...

Re: footnotes in files exported to rtf
Hi Shelly, The continuous numbering of the original Mellel file is changed to restart with page I think the culprit are the settings in the program you are using to open the RTF with. Word processors usually have an import template, which may or may not be the same as the default template you use wh...

Re: Copy Citation (Bookends)
And, if the citation is already in the document, I can add an additional citation to the same reference by double-clicking the reference in the Mellel Bibliography pane (assuming Live Bibliography is on). You shouldn't need Live Bibliography to be on for that. Double clicking the reference in the M...

Re: Merging two indexed documents
Hello Nick, I think it could be a very useful feature - at least for me - to have the possibility to merge indexed documents. I agree. In Nisus Writer Pro this works flawlessly. the indexed items of document #2 whose content has been copied in document #1 show a bullet [at] the beginning of the line...

Re: Mellel + ePub - your thoughts and requests
I would like to encourage everyone reading to chime in. Hello Eyal, Judging from the number of replies, epub doesn't seem to be on the top of the wishlist. Wouldn't it be wiser to concentrate on true word processing enhancements that everybody needs and people have been repeatedly asking for here: ...

Re: Abbreviations
Is there an easy way to create abbreviations in mellel? One month later, and still no answer… Maybe that's because your question is ambiguous. What kind of abbreviations are you talking about? And for what purpose? If you have a text expanding feature in mind, then the answer is no. Apple's text re...

Reference symbols and Note symbols lose their links after export as PDF
Is it just me, or do other users see this too? I notice that when a document is exported from Mellel as a PDF the link between the Reference symbol and the Note symbol gets lost. The expected behavior would be that if you click or double-click on a Reference symbol in the PDF you would be taken dire...

Re: Separate a bit text and footnote calls
Thank you for posting a screenshot. It's now clear what you mean. I agree with you, this doesn't look good. I was just wondering if there is an "automatic" way to do this. A good question. In "Edit note attributes…" there indeed doesn't seem to be an option to tweak the space bet...

Re: Separate a bit text and footnote calls
Is there any quick way to add a small space between the footnote call and the text or to separate them in any other way? When you say "footnote call', do you then mean what Mellel calls "Reference symbol"? Or are you referring to the Note symbols? Anyway, the formats and the surround...

Re: Help with Find and Replace
Have you tried "alphanumeric" and looking specifically for footnotes? Did you try this yourself? If you did, you would have seen that this doesn't work. "Search in Footnotes" will only find text in footnotes, that is, note text. If I understand the original poster's intention co...
