Re: 'Remove Formatting' key in Find Dialogue Box
Perhaps I do not understand the appropriate use of the 'Remove Formatting' key. Right, I think You do not :) The point is that the new find dialog allows you to search for text with specific formatting. Try to select a part of your search expression (say “lie”), open the “Main font” palette and set...

This (search bar à la Firefox) is a great idea, for it would get rid of the dialog-over-results problem, it is a much better solution then the hopping box and would probably look mighty sexy (at least to me, I like the Firefox search bar or the Mail.app search bar). BUT, it has some serious drawback...

Feature request: Move search dialog out of the way
The search&replace dialog almost always hides the found text for me. I would like a preferences option for “Smart search dialog placement” that would move the search dialog out of the way each time a new match is found. I think one of the developers already said in the forum that this is difficu...

Yep. Simply display the header frame by checking the “Header/Footer frames” in the Show menu (bottom left), click in the header frame and insert desired text. You can also set the title of the chapter to a variable and insert that variable into the header (Insert > Document variables). A better way ...

Paragraph style shortcuts do not help me much, because I insert most of the “non-standard” paragraphs with autotitles – I’d love to have keyboard shortcuts for autotitles. And I am not sure if I like the multiple-key shortcuts (like cmd-something and then something else), is there a way to make them...

I think the demand for various special export formats is going to be too low for developers to write them – the right choice here seems to be to vote for the export system and let the users write export plugins for themselves. I would write the LaTeX export myself (although I do not need it) if the ...

And there is no need to scan continuously the document to update the cross-refs; doing that only when a cross ref is added would suffice. Unfortunately this is not exactly true. Imagine yourself adding some text to the beginning of a long document. If the referenced objects get pushed to a differen...

One perhaps simple or even simplistic question I have is about how the indexing fits into the professional indexing situation. When I looked into this 2-3 years ago, professional indexing was still a manual activity. Even the best dedicated software could not replace what the professional indexer d...

Feature request: Page-width and text-width zoom.
I think the topic subject pretty much says it all. The page-width zoom would stretch the page to fill the screen (no matter what I do to the window, even if I open the Outline and so on), so that there is never a horizontal scrollbar nor empty space between the page border and the window edge. The t...

Some people have already suggested using Sparkle to handle the upgrades, Ori promised to look into it.

Mac OS X is standard enough a platform that shell scripts shouldn't be all that fragile (or fragile at all, if well coded), and trust issues are… well, pervasive, and no more of a problem in this regard than any other. “Well coded”, that is the point. (I think that majority of the plugins is going ...
